What is the Location Service setting in EasySocial? If its used to detect the user location in Address fields, even without the API key they work. So why do we need API Key?

Also when I set up the API key with Google maps, there are too many options listed under services. Which one do I need to choose for this to work? I options I am seeing for google maps are:

Google Maps Android API v2
Google Maps Coordinate API
Google Maps Embed API
Google Maps Engine API
Google Maps Geolocation API
Google Maps JavaScript API v3
Google Maps SDK for iOS
Google Maps Tracks API

This is the first time I am coming across this and got no idea on what this is used for. Can someone guide me please?
Hello Neel,

You can actually choose to use Google places or Foursquare to detect your current place rather than Google maps. However, in order for these API's to work correctly, you need to create an app with them. I would suggest you to create an app on Foursquare to give this a try

Thanks Mark. I created a dev app with Foursquare and have added the client id and secret to this setting. Too easy. Thanks for that.

Hi,

Neel wrote it was so easy I gave it a try too... but without the same success...

I created an app, got the id and the secret saved in the easy social config.
It is not retrieving anything...

Google is working fine without any api, so I guess there is something wrong in the app config page on foursquare.
Can you please give me a detailed explanation how to correctly fill these fields in the attachment?

Hi Oliver,

In order to use the location service, you need to create Foursquare apps. The fields you need to put are:
1. Download / welcome page url
2. Redirect URI(s)

If you're having issue with this, perhaps you can provide us backend access and FTP access so that we can have a better look on your site. Please advise.
