HI

I planning to use Discuss in any purpose and just wonder what it is?

Is it a forum,, a case management tool, a tips & discussion platform, support desk etc?

I have been using phpBB forum since the finn started it and is used to use Joomlas phpBB forum and thats much easier to use for example as a forum bcs you can set up categories/topics and find the navigation easier than here with ED bcs its very difficult to create a kind of "knowledge center" I have seen here and also in other EasyDiscuss Joomla sites. So you as a site owner not need to answer similar asked questions again and again and ..

Example Joomshaper if you want to solve problems with Offcanvas problem and try to navigate thats impossible or doing a search this is the results https://www.joomshaper.com/forums/search/off%20canvas%20menu?start=140

So whats your suggestion h o w to use EasyDiscuss in the best business value idea for your site users?

Maybe it would be as an Q & A ?

Rgds
Yes, most of the customer also use for discussion platform, support desk or Q&A section.

Then later under that instructions people/members can discuss and make comments under about that instruction "topic" give each other tips etc and you can also moderate that comments etc. Then you have sorted that categories/topics/discussions in a navigating hierarchical tree that people understand you don't need to repeat some questions/answers again and again..

When the user reply on one of the topic, if that is correct answer, the post owner or site moderator can mark this reply as accepted answer, so someone trying to search this similar question on the search engine, it will populate these search result on the site.

But the search result also depend on the search keyword whether it match with the topic title and the reply content.

Actually i am not understand what you mentioned "Then you have sorted that categories/topics/discussions in a navigating hierarchical tree that people understand you don't need to repeat some questions/answers again and again..", perhaps you can elaborate more details regarding this?

For example the tutorials is something I would preferred to be used with a starred/(make pinned for first) topic with the Easy Discussed forum component for example some instructions that you do.

Then later under that instructions people/members can discuss and make comments about that instruction "topic" give each other tips etc and you can also moderate that comments etc. Then you have sorted that categories/topics/discussions in a navigating hierarchical tree that people understand you don't need to repeat some questions/answers again and again..

What you think?

Hi thanks for the answer will try to figure out how to use ED.

I just missing the logic navigational structure so you can browse to the subjects/topics you want to find.. And not the need of any search bcs then you get matches from all over the place

Hey Stan,

When we originally developed EasyDiscuss, it was mainly a Q&A system that is used on our site as our helpdesk but it soon evolved into a hybrid between a forum and a Q&A system. For instance, EasyDiscuss powers the helpdesk you are using now to post your support queries

HI Mark and thanks for the explanation and that is logic on how its structrured bcs this type of hybrid sometimes can fullfill all needs of different aspects. I think its very good as a simple/complex Q&A where you add discussions to the Q&A.

Thks for explanations..
