What do I set the main menu link (what Type) to for the index page

I installed ok I'm trying to migrate jomsocial. What do I set the main menu link to for the index page showing all activity? Also the modules are not showing up when I attach them ti the menu item.
Perhaps you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so we can better have a check?

By the way, what do you mean by the index page? Are you mean homepage?
