Hello Team,

We are facing some weird issue and cannot find the root cause for same.

Scenario

We have ES group, members present in group add some post and update their status from frontend.
These activities can be seen by the same person and other members in the group.
But due to some reason, this module does not show any above activities to any user for this ES group.
Please check attached image.
That says, "There are no activities here yet" but we do have activities from past days.

How we solved it
we have created ES group with following settings
1. Description - some text added (compulsory field)
2. Group Type - Invite only Group

Somehow these 2 fields reset their values.
1. Description is blank
2. Group Type is changed to Open Group
We again change these values to original and we can again we all activities.

Same thing has repeated for 2-3 times within a week. This seems to be some other issue.
We haven't done deployments or database change too.

As this issue is raised on live, we cannot share details with you.

Correct me if I'm wrong here do you mean,
User cannot see any stream in the group, where as you create a new group (default value for group type: invite only) with description and group type to open group, it will fallback to default value of group type invite only and blank description?

-> For the blank description issue actually is a known issue where the issue has been logged in our issue tracker.
But I'm still wondering how to replicate the group type was fallback to 'invite only' once you've change it to open group.
Perhaps can you give some steps on how to replicate this with some screenshots might help us a lot.

Yes, you have correctly understood issue I'm facing.

Have you got fix for blank description? As we are using these on our live sites and people use this platform for sharing multiple things.
Suddenly stream going blank, impacts wrong impression in members and we receive tickets from end users.

Correction to group type, I have set it to "invite only type" and this is reset to "open". Also we are not sure on what action this happens. I think with description this field is also reset group type value.

Please let us know.

Can we integrate ES activities to "LOGman" third party extension. So that we can keep track on actions to find out the cause.

We only can replicate the blank description issue (as this issue has been logged previously by my colleague, it will included in our next release )
For the group type reset to open, I'm still unable to replicate this locally. As you cannot provide us with your live site access, perhaps can you setup a staging/testing site exactly same with the live site for us to troubleshoot further on this ?

Can we integrate ES activities to "LOGman" third party extension. So that we can keep track on actions to find out the cause.

Seems like they do not provide any integration to EasySocial activities.

As per your logs description issue looks to be fixed. We shall upgrade and verify for the same.
After we replicate issue related to group type going blank. We shall inform you.

Sure I shall add new ticket for the type issue.

Can you confirm "Description value now saves properly when creating a new group." This is the same as we raised in this ticket?
Description going blank for some reason.

So that we can move the hot fix immediately by only replacing files related to this bug.
also we are updating ES but it will take 3-4 days to go live. So can you confirm this won't break existing functionality.

Here is the list of modified ones in image, Pls confirm.

Hi Piret,

Yes, you're checking the right chagelog for the groups description issue. However this commit was included for the pages description issue as well (where pages hitting the same issue as the group- blank description).
If you just intend to apply fix for group description only. You can just replace the related file: https://www.screencast.com/t/bDiVhFSKL

Make sure the EasySocial version that you want to apply the fix was not too old. I'm suggest you to backup the file that you want to replace for precaution

Hi,

Given three files are not sufficient for the hotfix please refer screenshot attached below.
So now will be waiting for the ES upgrade for to fix this issue.

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

My colleague not working during the weekend so I am not really sure what is your exact current issue since you do not have provide any site details from your staging site.

Can you simplify with your current issue and provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so I can better have a check?
