Hey there,

a member on my site complained about not being able to get their uploaded avatar as avatar. She could upload the image but it is not working for her to get it as the avatar. I wanted to check it and found another thing. There are suddenly popping up 7 months old comments though the entry itself is only 14 hours old. So it seems like the comments are coming from another entry...

Hey Sabih,

a member on my site complained about not being able to get their uploaded avatar as avatar. She could upload the image but it is not working for her to get it as the avatar.

Something is strange because it can't pull back the image from Amazon when the user pick the existing avatar which already pushed to Amazon. By the way I still investigate on this issue.

I wanted to check it and found another thing. There are suddenly popping up 7 months old comments though the entry itself is only 14 hours old. So it seems like the comments are coming from another entry...

After investigate long hours ago, the reason why this stream comment (http://xxx.xx/community/stream/eintrag/13888) will show on this stream ( http://xxx.xx/community/stream/eintrag/19065 ) is because both actually same image and what I suspect is :

- Sunny updated her avatar image 1 time (7 month ago)
- then she update her same avatar image again at yesterday
- so the comment data "uid" will store the same photo id then when the check comment update ajax kick in, it show the previous comment at the same stream.

I will consult with our developer regarding this on the week start and see is there a better solution on this.

Hi Arlex,

thank you very much for your effort and especially for hiding my domain. Inside the entry sunny says that when she tried to upload the avatar, it took very long and then nothing happened. Not sure if this might help. I was hoping that EasySocial 2 might solve this but in case of your answer I expect the same thing might happen with ES2?

I have updated the first post to see a link where you can see that sunny got another avatar before.

Hello Sabih,

When I was refactoring ES2 like a mad man, I actually stomped across this weird issue and I then revamped the entire comments library all over again. It seems like it doesn't occur anymore on ES2 but perhaps you could try this later with ES2?

It would be a no-brainer if we spend 30 - 40 hours trying to troubleshoot this if we could actually spend time on making ES2 as stable as possible so that you can quickly jump on the wagon

Hi Mark, I totally agree with you! Therefor I wanted to test the latest beta release of ES2 but it says "File does not exist". As soon as the link is working again, I will check this on my dev site using the latest ES2 release and come back to this thread to report the result.

Made an actual copy of the site on my dev site, the entry behaved the same weird way. After updating to ES2 the same entry seems to be working. Unfortunately I can not check yet if the avatar upload will work for that user, but we will see when ES2 will be officially released.

Hey Arlex,

just got a reply from sunny and unfortunately it is not yet working. I have no idea what the problem is. She keeps telling me that except of loading nothing happens for her. But she tells me it works if she uploads the former image as an avatar.

Nevertheless there seems to be more problems with her account itself. Because she made one post on the forums and there were made two entries at the stream with a time difference of 5 minutes.

ES Stream entries:
DOMAIN/community/stream/eintrag/19233
DOMAIN/community/stream/eintrag/19231

ED Forum post:
DOMAIN/forum/kategorien/zwischenmenschliches/kummerkasten/depressionen#Antwort-7544

I am unsure about the release of ES2. If it is just around the corner I think we should wait for it instead of spending too much time with a ES 1.4 release maybe.

EDIT:

I just found out sunny is using Firefox so I assume there is a connection to the already mentioned problem here: https://stackideas.com/forums/latest-firefox-not-allowing-avatar-and-covers-to-upload

Hey Sabih,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Nevertheless there seems to be more problems with her account itself. Because she made one post on the forums and there were made two entries at the stream with a time difference of 5 minutes.

May i know do you can replicate this on your user account? If can't, I think we need Sunny user account access so we can directly investigate on this.

If you can replicate, perhaps you can provide us one of the discussion which we can test on it and not affect your live site with other user.

I just found out sunny is using Firefox so I assume there is a connection to the already mentioned problem here: https://stackideas.com/forums/latest-firefox-not-allowing-avatar-and-covers-to-upload

You can ask Sunny try upload avatar from Chrome browser and see is it can work? If can't, mean this issue not related with this similar thread issue.

But I think most likely is related this issue, you can follow my instruction from that thread, but you do not need to compile first, after you modify that file and switch environment mode to development, then ask Sunny try again.
