We are trying to update to the latest version from:
Installed version: 3.9.22295
Latest available version: 5.0.190000

We are using Joomla 2.5 latest. I tried downloading the component and full install manually from StackIdeas but could not install. Update within EasyBlog is not advised either. Please assist.

Thank you
Hey Vincent,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

Thank you for the reply. I cannot provide either access at this point. If there are logs I can share/gather please let me know and I will. Thank you for your understanding.

Hey Vincent,

Without any access I am afraid there is no way for us to troubleshoot this issue for you

Can you tell us the procedure for updating from 3.9 to the latest version? Outside of using the blog self-update. Thanks!

Hey Vincent,

Upgrading from EasyBlog 3.9.x or older to 5.x requires a full uninstall / installation. The reason is because there are some core files which were modified in this release and running the updater would actually break things.

Rest assured that your data would not get erased when you perform an uninstall. Theme files and other core files would however get erased, so if you have made any modifications, it's best to make a backup of the modifications first.

Ok, then that sounds like my issue. Is there a guide somewhere I can follow? What do you mean data would not be erased - do you mean blog articles/categories ?I would like to know specifically please.

Hey Vincent,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. When you uninstall EasyBlog, the data (blog posts, categories, tags etc) will NOT get deleted.

Great, thanks. I'll proceed with an uninstall in my backend and do the "full package install". Can you confirm the extensions needing to be un-installed? I have:

EasyBlog
EasyBlogArchive
EayBlog Users

Thanks,

Hey Vincent,

Yep, that's correct. Go ahead and uninstall these packages and install the v5.0 package
