Want to show "Post Cover" in showcase but not in single blog

Is there a way to show the post cover in the showcase thumb but not in the single blog layout?
I have a client saying that google frowns on post covers in blog articles but still wants to see something in the showcase layouts.

Hi Garrett,

The following setting is able to prevent post cover from showing in the single blog layout.
Settings>Views>Entry Post>Show Post Image

You may try this setting and see if it satisfies your requirements.
