Hi SI Team

First:
a) I uploaded videos to Vimeo
b) I set a Thumbnail
c) I inserted them in a EB post related to a Group.
d) I inserted the videos in a ES Group
Then:
e) I swapped out the video on Vimeo
f) I changed the Thumbnail
(The Vimeo link remans the same)

Taking "Basic Subtitles in FCPX 01a" as an e.g:

The Thumbnail updates here:

Any ideas what is going on here?

I have the exact same problem for the further videos that I updated:

The reason why it show correctly that thumbnail image even you re-upload that thumbnail to use different colour from vimeo account, is because :
- these Easyblog video section can clickable that play button and play that video at the same time, mean it display as similar with https://vimeo.com/153280910 page
- But Easysocial show recent video widget is completely different with Easyblog, when you click on that video from that widget, it will redirect to that single video page instead of play that video immediately.

In other word, that thumbnail is actually get from database instead of vimeo account.

By the way, I actually feel a little bit lost here, may i know which video you updated that thumbnails?

And which part it not show out correctly with the thumbnail? Please advise.

Then I checked from your database for this video, it seems like you have updated it to stored grey thumbnail link http://finalbug.net/media/com_easysocial/videos/48/554669306_1280.jpg , screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/Syigtm0y4J

The reason why these few video do not show grey thumbnail is because the original video already show green thumbnail instead of show grey thumbnail, you can refer on my following explanation :

To fix this, you have to update your grey thumbnail photo which you upload from vimeo video itself.

I am sorry about the slow reply and sorry to say that I just do not follow your explenation.
As of now all of my videos now have the green thumbnail on Vimeo:

But when I go here:

http://www.finalbug.net/groups/fcpx

They are Green in the main stream.
The same videos are grey on the left hand side in the "Recent Videos (19)" section in the applications section.

Please advise

Hey Paul,

I believe these video thumbnail still showing grey thumbnail is because previously these video is using grey thumbnail instead of green thumbnail, so it already stored this grey thumbnail image URL into database.

To fix this, you have to re-upload these video again in your group.

By the way, I have try to manually modify these thumbnail columns through the mijosql extension from backend, but it causing the the json stored as " and 5 video is not display on the group now.

Can you provide us with your PHPMYADMIN access so I can try is it can restore back these data what I updated just now in your database?

It is weird but I am not seeing a "Site Details" section in this thread.
If you go to Site Ground and look for the login window up in the top right hand section.
And enter "finalBUG" and the same password that is stored in my profile for the Joomla back end...
You should be able to get in.
FYI I am also seeing some weirdness with respect to the Thumbnails here:

Would it not make sense in the long run that Thumbnails update consistently across the site?
I know that these things are easier said than done.
But it just seems a little weird the way it works/does not work at the moment.

Yes, I can access now. Hm, I believe I didn't explain very well for you in my previous reply.

What I mean is If suddenly you changed the video thumbnail from here -> https://vimeo.com/pauldavidmurray/videos , Easysocial left sidebar recent videos section ( http://screencast.com/t/8xXUCTgAPU )will not automatically follow back what thumbnail you changed from vimeo account.

Because when you upload that video at the first time, Easysocial will retrieve that video thumbnail data and stored in database.

If vimeo video thumbnail already used green thumbnail, I do not need to change anything from database.

You can check my local website, when I first time upload these video, it will show correctly with green thumbnail.

By the way, I already help you restore back these correct video thumbnail in this group. http://www.finalbug.net/groups/fcpx

However.... Is it or is it not the case that when I re-upload a video to Vimeo with a different thumbnail that Easy Blog will retrieve the new Thumbnail?

If I understand this correctly the answer is yes.

If the answer is yes it seems strange to me that EB can do this ans ES can not!

Fact is that EB/ES both refer back to the same Vimeo link!
