Hello,

By testing your demo, I realized that the videos added in the Groups and in the Pages were not displayed in the main Videos section. http://demo.stackideas.com/easysocial/videos
It's the same for Photos/Albums from Groups and Pages.

There is a setting for that ?
Thank you.
Philippe
It is actually excluded by default due to privacy concerns. For instance, if your group / event is private it wouldn't make sense for these items to also show up on these listings.

Thank you for your response Mark.
Yes for Private Groups and Events it's logical, I understand.
However for Open Groups and Events, it would be natural for their content Photos and Videos to be visible throughout EasySocial.

But then, if it is because of the privacy concerns, why are the Events and Polls created from the Groups are also visible in the main Events and Polls section ?

Thanks
Philippe

If I recall correctly there are other implications on the database level and it is why we excluded them from those listings. If there are enough feature requests for this, we'll see if we can add them

Ok. Thank you very much.
Half the way has already been done with the Events and Polls. Only Photos and Videos are missing to complete.
This must be coherent.

Anyway I'm already not the first to ask that.
I found two other questions on the same subject :

Hello Philippe,

These users aren't really requesting for these features They were merely asking why and they were satisfied with our answers so I guess it is not relevant enough for us to enforce this?

If there are people who submit this under the feature requests area, we'll look into this.

Sorry Mark to come back on that.
But when you say "by default" in your sentence "It is actually excluded by default due to privacy concerns", does this mean that I can change this rule by editing a code or something like that ?

(Even if it means that the videos of the private groups will also be displayed)

Thanks
Philippe

Okay. Thank you Mark.

I hope that these Privacy Rules will evolve and adapt according to the type of Page or Group (Public or Private)
With EasySocial 2.1 maybe...

Jumping here because for us it makes nonsense how Stackideas handles this issue.

Pages are also meant for businesses and on top you have a paid app for opening hours.

Businesses contrary to "normal" members pay to have pages, to be publicly visible and make advertisment but at the end their activities are not listed ???

Sorry Mark but like Philippe I believe you are doing it the wrong way here...

Not really sure what do you mean here. If the page has videos, these videos would appear on the stream on the dashboard and the page stream as well.

It only doesn't appear on the "Videos" listing because the "Videos" listing like the album would list videos posted by users.

O god, once again I forgot telepathy does not exist....

Using pages for professionnals, business, products, etc. is a must when the owners can communicate, create and share.
That is what they will do and the stream will show the activity in time.
When I wrote their activities is not listed I meant the videos and others will not be counted and listed in these respective categories.

For example, you create a how-to video category where only professional pages can add how-to videos of their products.
Then a business/product page adds a how-to video about their product.
This video will not be counted nor listed in the video category. Registered members will believe this category is empty but it is not!

If I recall correctly there are other implications on the database level and it is why we excluded them from those listings.

If you could rethink it and include "them" including the privacy settings then ES would gain in consistency and follow the natural logic purposeS of pages.

Thanks for your input, perhaps you can start a new thread and select "Easysocial - feature request" category for request this feature so we will see if a lot of users request this, we will definitely consider to implement this.

Okay. Thank you Arlex.
I agree with Supporter naturally.

We had already had a discussion in the same spirit : "Showing discussions of EasyDiscuss Groups"
https://stackideas.com/forums/showing-discussions-of-easydiscuss-groups

It is therefore the rules of privacy that must evolve and better adapt to the contexts.

Polls and Events created from Groups have the privilege of being displayed in the main "Polls" and "Events" sections. But why not do the same with Videos and Photos?

EasyBlog articles created from groups also have the privilege of being displayed in the main section of EasyBlog. Why is not there the same model with EasyDiscuss?

Thank you.
