So I took over this one community that is running vB... (I can't stress how much I HATE vB!) and I've been looking for migration options and then it sparked me that you have one! Well I'm testing it out to see if it works and if it is something the community wants to move forward with but its getting stuck and not moving from "Total Posts found: 1935"

It was able to import the Categories with no problems but its just sitting there at "Total Posts Found". I've been letting it sit there for more than 10 minutes now but nothing is happening. Is there a setting somewhere I need to increase because it may be to much data?
Hello Fred,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

Mark, not sure if this was just overlooked, I'm still having issues with this. I'd really like this to work so I can purchase it for this community and get this rolling.

Hi Fred,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've fixed the issue on your vbulletin migrator and successfully run the migrator. However, after the migration completed, I went and check the discussion posts from your EasyDiscuss backend and i noticed there is one topic that do not have a title and with 9600 replies. Please see http://screencast.com/t/e6A9LuN5

I not sure if this is caused by the data from your vbulletin or the migrator. Anyway, can you verify if the data migrated correctly from your vbulletin into EasyDiscuss? If the data is not correctly, can you pass me your phpmyadmin access so that I can do some troubleshooting?

Remember to backup your site the database
Hope this help and have a nice day

Sam,

Thanks for the response, Well it takes for ever to load the page to check, however I finally got it to load after about a minute. It didn't seem to import over the users at all, so all the posts are done by Guest. Also no it shouldn't be in an uncategorized section. Below I've put the URL to the vBulletin forum so you can get an idea of how it is organized with this community.

Also noticing that there is one thread with 9677 replies... Looks like all the replies went into one blank topic. http://puu.sh/7pPFu.png

I have just create a full site back up and both Database Backups as well, however I am going to sleep. I will check back in around 5 hours from now. Though once all the bugs are worked out, I will need to redo the vB Database migration again as it is live at the moment.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your phpmyadmin access. Regarding the previous issue, the thread with 9677 replies, it was caused by the migrator and I've fixed the issue on your site. I've rerun the migration and now the posts was migrated correctly.

As for the post migrated as guest, this is because the migrator required you to import your vbulletin users into Joomla jos_users table as well. Currently the migrator will map your vBulletin prefix_posts.username column with your Joomla jos_users.username. The migrator will not create new user data in your Joomla jos_users table thus all the posts are migrated as 'guest'.

Once you've import your users from vBulletin into your Joomla users, you might need to rerun the migration. Before you can re-run the migration, you might want to execute below sql to purge the migrated posts in your EasyDiscuss:

delete a.* from jos_discuss_posts as a
inner join jos_discuss_migrators as b on a.id = b.internal_id and component = 'vBulletin' and `type` = 'post';

Next, you will need to run the below sql query to purge the logged data from EasyDiscuss history table.

delete from jos_discuss_migrators where `component` = 'vBulletin' and `type` = 'post' ;

* Remember to replace jos_ to your own table prefix.

Hope this help and have a nice day

Ok, just want to make sure I have this down before I start.

1) Run SQL Script to delete existing migrated data
2) Run SQL Script to delete Logged Data from the History Tab
3) Backup Current vB Database
4) Delete Old vB Database tables that I have in the Joomla DB
4) Import Updated vB Database to Joomla DB
5) Export vB Users Table
6) Import vB Users Table into Joomla's #_user table
7) Re-run Migration Tool in ED

I'm shooting for this Saturday to do the Migration, I realize that is your off time however that is one of the only times I have to be able to do this. At that point I will be shutting down the live forums and conducting a backup and migration. I will post here with any issues I run into. Hopefully we've fixed them all now. I will probably be performing everything around noon which would be midnight for you guys. I will try to do it as early as possible to hopefully get some sorta support if needed.

Also is there a way to Mark all As Read after doing the migration?

for example
[ size="3" ] Page entered:[ /size ]

Sam,

Everything transferred over pretty well once I figured out how to migrate the users into a Joomla DB. However the main issues I'm seeing is that the formatting of each post didn't migrate over well. There is no spacing between paragraphs, so long posts are a wall of text, and none of the BBcode converted to your BBcode.

Also, should the PM's of transferred over?

Hi Fred,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Regarding your issue with bbcode, I've applied some fix on your site and now the bbcode from Vb should translate correctly. By the way, below nested bbcodes are currently not supported.

[ font=4 ][ font=2 ].....[ /font ][ /font ]
[ size=4 ][ size=2 ].....[ /size ][ /size ]

Please verify again The fix will be added into next release of EasyDiscuss as well

Hope this help and have a nice day

Thanks Sam, you've been a huge help. I have just noticed an issue with the migration. All replies seem to have the same time stamp which has put the replies to topics out of order.

Hi Fred,

All replies seem to have the same time stamp which has put the replies to topics out of order.

Ah, you are right. It is a bug in the VB migrator I've applied a fix on your site and also patched the db on your site by running below query:

update jos_discuss_posts as a
inner join jos_discuss_migrators as b on a.id = b.`internal_id` and b.`component` = 'vBulletin' and b.`type` = 'post'
inner join vbu_post as c on b.`external_id` = c.`postid`
set a.created = FROM_UNIXTIME( c.dateline ),
a.modified = FROM_UNIXTIME( c.dateline ),
a.replied = FROM_UNIXTIME( c.dateline )
where a.parent_id != 0;

Can you please verify again the date time of the replies?
The fix will be added into next release of EasyDiscuss

And for people who facing the same timestamp issue, you may also run the above query. Just remember to replace the jos_ to your own Joomla table prefix and also the vbu_ to your own vb table prefix.

Hope this help and have a nice day

Thanks Sam,

It looks like it worked, however I'm going to have to rerun the query as the site you did it on is in the middle of transferring to its on VPS because we are using 55% of the CPU on our shared reseller account.

I just found another error, when editing a migrated post is gives a parsererror message and doesn't allow you to save the edit.

Links are below in Optional Information

Hi Fred,

Regarding the parse error, can you pass me your Joomla site admin login credential so that i can login to your site and edit the post to see the error? The user account you provided previously no longer able to login to your site.

Please advise.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for creating the user but I still not able to login with the new user. Did you enable / unblock the user from your Joomla backend?
Please advise.

I'm able to edit if I disable ReCaptcha. If ReCaptcha is on then it will give me a "Invalid Captcha Response"

Hi Fred,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Look like the VB migrator do not process the polls migration at all. Seem like a missing feature in VB migrator I will see if i can quickly add in this feature or not. Please allow me to take one or two days to work on this missing feature Thanks for your understanding and your patients.
