I just updated to EasySocial 2.2.3 and installed the Akismet app and also configured the CleanTalk app witih my cleantalk key.

On my site all users have to apply at Registered users and then I can upgrade them to other user statuses afterwards.

I am hoping that this might help me get less spam on the site. I also use Akismet and CleanTalk for my EasyBlog on the same site.

What I am wondering if if the setting of Default Application for both Akismet and CleanTalk will mean that from now on all EasySocial comments, conversation and registrations will be put now be checked to see if the submitter is in a spam database. I get quite a lot of registered users now who are spammers and whose accounts I have to monitor and ban. It would be nice if they could be filtered out more.

so, I am setting the Default Application to ON for both CleanTalk and Akismet and hope that makes this a default behavior for all users.

If I make this default for everybody will this include the users that created their accounts previously?

Maybe I am not understanding this functionality but I hope I am and I hope it will give even better protection against spammers, especially those creating now accounts as Registered users.

Also, should I select all my USER types in the Access Control field for both Akismet and Cleantalk EasySocial apps?

Thank you, Sean Carney
Hi Sean,

The antispam will only affect new registrations, so it won't affect users that are already registered.
Also, should I select all my USER types in the Access Control field for both Akismet and Cleantalk EasySocial apps?
Actually it should already affect all user types by default.
