Are you able to provide some guidance which of the User Apps should be "default application" and what is usual "choie" I know all is per preferences but what are good settings?
Hey Leo,

We don't have a definite answer for you for this one because it really is up to your own preferences.

Haha, to be honest, it's not something that we can advise In fact, I really don't know how to advise you on which apps should be by default. It really depends on what you think is best for your community

Thanks God I have no community

Making nice progress btw... I have one issue though which ***** a bit... Any advise would be welcome: If you want me to open a new post tell me:

Here is the issue:

The migration of K2 to Easyblog has caused problems with the authors of the articles/items/posts.

In the past as well as in the future articles or in K2-case Items were created by one of the CFA-staff and he/she used here own account i.e. CFA Staff or CFA8 etc to assign the author. They were told by the previous developer that the Alias field in K2 was linked to the JomSocial user and that in JS the authors would be visible under the author profile (through the usage of the alias)

I am not familiar enough to check this but this gives now a problem in Easyblog. 50% of all articles have different authors through "aliases" in K2. However the migration has properly (!) given the author id (thus profile links etc) to the author id and not to the alias. As a result all articles/blog posts in Easyblog are owned by CFA Staff/CFA8/CFA9 and Jen where a lot of Members have contributed and should be shown as the author.

Jen (owner of the site) has requested to have the Blog posts assigned to the previous K2-alias which is the actual author. If we need to do this manually we have to do about 700 articles in both CFA (new cessnaflyer.org) and PFA (new piperflyer.org) and that of course a nightmare.

Any advise here? I have run the migrator on a dummy site but see no way to get the "alias" migrated to author or so

Hope I clarified this enough otheriwse look in 'old" at the K2-entries of the items....again 50% has alias that are JS-users

Hey Leo,

When you mean alias, do you mean a virtual author or do you mean a real user on the site? If the user is a virtual user, then what you can do:

1. Create a user account that you want to own all of the blog posts
2. Run a sql query to update all the author to the new user that you have created.

This really is not a problem with our migrator but because of the customized version of K2 that they used which is pretty unique. I have no idea why would the previous developer wants to use an alias to link to a Jomsocial profile when all they could do is to link it with the user's id.

Yeah but that won't fly since we have about 80 different authors on those pages and the lady wants those assigned to the pages they actually created,. (This was all setup by the previous AEC-support tech named "Jake". We inherited the crap from him ) so it looks like no other option as I was afraid than manually assigning the authors....dombo work ...

Thanks Mark
