Yes it is possible to use only Easyblog and Easydiscuss since all the components are not integrated to each other by default.

ok i am using joomla register, but i am really needing something that allows two differeny profile types so that one type can use all features to both EB and ED and the other profile have limited access to EB and full features to ED. is this possible?

You should configure this in the ACL of EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss All you need to do is to assign the users to the appropriate Joomla user group.
