A logged in user does not see the group stream despite the rights seem to be set correctly.
Can you update your following details into your first post so we can able to investigate on this issue?

1. Jooomla backend superadmin access
2. FTP access

You provided that user account do not have access to your backend, this is what i hitting now :

Hi Alex, super admin nad FTP for that domain is in my stackideas account. The other details are of a regular user who cannot see the stream. Provided this additionally so that you do not have to create a test user.

It seems like you have enabled this setting "Exclude Site Admin's Stream From Appearing" from backend > Easysocial > setting > activity stream > general , you can refer on my attached screenshot below.

I already help you disabled that option, your site user should be able to see your superadmin stream item now.
