Hi

I'm having problems with Easy Discuss because users are finding that they can edit each others posts but not their own. I've set things in the ACL so that 'civiMembers' can edit their own posts and I haven't enabled the 'edit discussions' bit (see screenshots) so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening.

Hope you can help.

Jamie
Hello Jamie,

Based on your previous reply,
all of the users of Easy Discuss on this website will be assigned to Registered

I've checked the ACL for the Registered User group and seems like you have enabled this option: http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-11-06_1819.png . Means that all users in your site will be able to edit any reply posted in Easydiscuss. I've created one user testuser and put it in Registered, Civi Members and civi Local volunteer. I was able to edit other's reply but after I turn off the option, I cannot edit other's reply anymore. Hope this helps.

hello Jamie O'Reilly,

Sorry for late reply to this,
It seems like you have set some of the user under multiple user group, if some of the user assigned to multiple user group e.g. CiviContacts, CiviLocalVolunteer , so this 2 user group should be set to same permission,
Edit replies - NO (allow user edit all the reply)
Edit own replies - YES (allow user edit their own reply)
Can you give it try again, I have help you set it.
If still the same, can you provide us which user account having this issues? Please advise.

Hello Jamie,

You need to actually check the category access as you might have added these users as moderator of the category. Which particular user are you testing this and which category are you posting them on?

Hi guys, thanks for both contributing at almost the exact same moment

Yes, some of the users are assigned to more than one user group eg civi contacts, registered and civi members. In fact though, all of the users of Easy Discuss on this website will be assigned to Registered and around 80% of those will be Civi members and it is these that I'm trying to ensure can edit their own replies and not those of others.

I have logged in as a user that is assigned to 'civi member' and 'registered' groups only and I can visit the forum and edit other people's posts - even the administrator's answer. The registered users don't have access to the forum at all as they need to be members to have access to the relevant menu items.

The person I have logged is not a moderator of the category. I logged in originally as * (see site details optional information) who is assigned to a number of groups including 'civi Member' and 'civi Local volunteer' and have also logged in as **. I posted an item under the category Website Feedback as * and found that as * I could edit my post but could also edit other people's replies. I have checked the category permission for this and the only assigned moderator is 'civi staff' which is correct and Faith is not assigned to that group. I logged in as ** who is assigned to 'registered' and 'civi Member' and likewise could immediately see that I could edit other people's posts and even the administrator's.

Can you help?

Thanks
