We have noticed an issue within easy social whereby when user A blocks user B user A can still reply to posts by user B. User B can not see the replies but gets a notification. Also if user B tries to go to user A profile to block them user A profile returns a 404 to user B.

Can any advice be given on if this is correct and if the blocking function will be fine tuned. For example instead of a 404 page a page can come up to say they are blocked and to offer to block back. Or if a user blocks another user, the block can maybe work both ways?
Hey Julz,

This is actually the correct behavior because when user A blocks user B, user B shouldn't know that they are being blocked. This is why a 404 page is generated rather than slapping in a face saying that you are blocked. It wouldn't feel nice in a community

Imagine if you are speaking to a friend and a friend tells you that "I don't want to talk to you, ignoring you". It ***** yeah?

But showing a 404 page prompts user B to ask the admin why the site is broken, admin advises they have been blocked and then user B states that user A can still post replies to their posts. Notifications are still generated for user B even though they can not see all the replies.

The main issue is user B can not block user A if user A has blocked user B. This opens the door to one sided abuse from user A and there is no way for anyone, not even the admin to help. No way to help User B block user A.

i think that is the main issue, maybe if one user blocks another the block can be made both ways?

Not been able to block users that have blocked you is starting to cause an issue on my site and i am struggling to find a solution and in turn i am loosing users.

If there was even a way for admin to assist with the blocked from the control panel that would assist but there is no option.

The current blocking system allows the first person to press the block button to torment the other.

Also The 404 page makes the site look broken and the slap of the face will be better so the user knows so they can correct their ways. Most times blocking is done when users have problems between each other.

Regarding the above, I've fixed the issue internally and the fix will be added into next release of EasySocial. Can you pass me your site ftp access so that I can add the patch to your site as the fix involved quite a number of files.

Regading the above, may i know why User B need to block User A? When User B being blocked by User A, User B technically cannot see any things that made by User A.

Anyway, I will discuss with the team regarding the block should made to both side and we will see what is the best approach to handle the user block feature

Thanks again for your feedback and your suggestion.

Hi Sam,

Sorry for the late response, i have updated with my login details.

Regading the above, may i know why User B need to block User A?

Because user A can still comment on user Bs posts, so user B wants to block user A. But i think the fix mentioned above may fix that.
