Hi folks,

I'm confused and I hope you can help! I think I have a Komento/EasySocial conflict. When users try to access the password and/or username recovery pages they are redirected to:

http://www.theukuleleway.com/component/users/?view=login

Instead of the EasySocial password/username recovery pages. I'm using the ES login module as the main login module on my site. How can I streamline this? What I would like is:

1. http://www.theukuleleway.com/component/users/?view=login should redirect to either the homepage or to http://www.theukuleleway.com/more-guest/log-in

2. The lost username and password links should land on http://www.theukuleleway.com/community-free-c6/account/lostusername and http://www.theukuleleway.com/community-free-c6/account/lostpassword

Thank you for any assistance!

Best wishes,

James
hey JH,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Thank you so much! It works. However, does this mean I can't use the system - cache plugin? This will probably have a negative effect on site performance, correct? Is there a caching plugin that you recommend for use with EasySocial?

I'm hosted with SiteGround and I'm also using their SuperCacher utility. The site seems to be loading fine at the moment but during high-traffic times caching is so important.

Any recommendations?

To be honestly, I am not really sure which cache plugin will be work fine in Easysocial.

May i know this SiteGround SuperCacher utility is rely on this system - cache plugin?

Update: the username recovery is working. However, when I use the password recovery page, there is still a problem. I think it is a redirect problem but I'm not sure:

1. User requests password
2. User is redirected to log in (site displays same system messages as shown for username recovery... strange)
3. Password reset email is sent...
4. ...however, when the link is clicked user is directed once again to login form, not password recovery form.

Sorry for the trouble but this is becoming an issue for users and I can't figure it out!

Thank you!

It seems like confirm reset password and complete reset password page also link to your private Easysocial dashboard menu item, so causing this redirection issue.

I have applied some fix in your site and created this 2 hidden menu item ( confirm reset password and complete reset password ) in your site, it should work fine now.

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I've checked in your site, it seems like you didn't enable "Enable com_users Redirection" from this plugin "System - Easysocial", so the system will not override 'com_users' login/reset password page to Easysocial.

I already help you enabled it, can you give it a check is it work fine now?

Hi Arlex,

I appreciate your quick reply. However, the problem is still there. When I go to the homepage (http://www.theukluleleway.com) and click on the link "username" or "password" in the login module, I'm sent to the URL http://www.theukuleleway.com/component/users/?view=login. This is obviously not correct. Can you suggest anything else?

Thank you,

James

p.s. I'm not sure if this is relevant but a few weeks ago I had trouble with the view=login URL. You can see the thread at http://stackideas.com/forums/komento-issue. Thanks!

Hey JH,

Thanks for getting back to us, I've checked again, it seems like that was because this menu "Community" set as only "Registered" user can access.

In other word, when the public user access this following links, they will redirect to login page is because they do not have permission to access your community page.
http://www.theukuleleway.com/community-free-c6/account/lostusername
http://www.theukuleleway.com/community-free-c6/account/lostpassword

To fix this, I already help you created 2 hidden menu item for forgot "username" and "password" menu item and set these 2 menu item access to public.

Can you give it a check now it should work fine now.

Thank you, Arlex! Almost there. Now when I use the form to retrieve a username, I run into an infinite loop once again with the URL http://www.theukuleleway.com/component/users/?view=login. This is the problem I *thought* was fixed a few weeks ago. Any thoughts?

Almost there... thanks for your support!

May i know which page you click on that forgot username/password? Because I tried to access forget username/password link from your homepage login module, it work fine.

I suspect you are referring from the article page? Is yes, can you provide us with that page URL so I can check this directly?

Hi Arlex,

You're right, the password recovery and username recovery pages load fine now. However, when I actually try to use the form, that's when the problem happens. I enter my email address, click Send, and then the page goes into an infinite redirect loop.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

hey JH,

I've checked again, it seems like when you submit your email address from lostusername page, it actually will redirect to your Easysocial login page ( http://www.theukuleleway.com/community-2 ), but unfortunately you set this menu item only registered user can access so causing this redirection loop issue.

I already help you set this menu item http://yoursite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_menus&view=item&layout=edit&id=388 to public access

It should work fine now.

Thank you, Arlex! Now my questions is:

When I submit an email through username or password recovery form (http://www.theukuleleway.com/lostusername), I'm redirected to the login page. This is a bit confusing for users. Is there a way to redirect to a confirmation page (e.g. "Your request as been received...") or, better yet, to display a confirmation message?

If I remember, a confirmation message is the normal behaviour of ES, but once again a redirection is happening that takes the user away from the page once the email is submitted. What do you suggest?

Thank you!

James

You're welcome.

Yes, By default, it will do the redirection to login page and appear a message ask you to check from your email address after you submit your username.

You can check my video here : http://screencast.com/t/2Xa41mwlBSuK

By the way, may i know do you have do some customization in your current Easysocial site?

Hi Arlex,

Thank you. Yes, I have done some CSS customization to make ES look and feel like the rest of the site. But I haven't done any major hacking of core files!

Please see my video attached: you'll see that the confirmation message is displayed only AFTER the user logs in! Strange: http://screencast.com/t/gg3DbSrpZo

Any ideas?

Thank you

It seems like that was your system - cache plugin issue, i believe it cached your site so it can't show out the suddenly error message. I have temporary disable this cache plugin and clear your Joomla backend cache, it should work fine now, can you give it a check now?

Hi there,

You are most welcome. Glad to hear that your issue has been resolved now.

If you don't mind and if it doesn't take too much of your time, is it possible for you to post up a review or give us some rating for EasySocial at Joomla! Extensions Directory http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/clients-a-communities/communities/25616 . This will really help motivate the team and will allow us to further improve our service as we move along.
