Hey there,

The different between Easysocial profile type with Joomla user group is :

Joomla user group
------------------------

When the user come to register on your site, it will only allow you assign 1 Joomla user group to that new registered user.

Easysocial Profile type
-----------------------------

This will based on how you set the Joomla user group from your existing Easysocial profile type, if you set 1 profile type contain a few Joomla user group, once the new user registered, it will assigned it to this few Joomla user group at the same time.

If you would like to use Payplan, i believe you can configure which Easysocial profile type need to pay first in order to register on your site, regarding this question you have to consult with Payplan support.

I got answer from payplan here:

""You need to create EasySocial Profile type and assign user group also in Profile type.
Using Easysocial Profile type app user will be assigned to specific profile type on the basis of plan he has subscribed.
http://www.readybytes.net/payplans/apps.html#/app/pp-easysocialprofiletype""

Is that mean I need to create 2 profile types? free and paid ! and assign joomla user group in profile type?

Yes, that is possible based on what i see our customer setup this.

You can't only use 1 Easysocial profile type, you have create at least 3 profile type :
1. Free member
2. Premium Member (3 month subscription)
3. Gold Member (1 year subscription)

So you Joomla user group you also need to create following new user group e.g. :
1. Free member
2. Premium member
3. Gold member

then assign to specific Easysocial profile type regarding those Joomla user group.

Regarding the subscription part, you have to consult with Payplan how to set it up from backend.

Yes, you can able to change the profile type from backend > Easysocial > user > click switch profile type button on the top, you can check my attached screenshot below.

Take note of this, remember do not simply change your Superuser profile type with the Joomla user group.

payplan reply me :

Hello,

If you want to apply same profile type to user then you need to create only one app instance for all plans.
To assign usergroups , you need to use JUser type app, which will assign user group on the basis of plan subscribed by the user.
See here : http://www.readybytes.net/payplans/apps.html#/app/pp-jusertype

You may view the discussion by clicking on the button below.

I ask payplan

If I dont use anything or APP for profile or joomla group !

so user just choose different plan and check out, then they will assign to the ONE profile type, then I manual change the joomla group in backend/easysocial user

I guess that no problem !??????

no problem?

To be honestly, I am not really sure how this Payplan work.

Based on what i see our customer configure this is similar like this :

Create 3 Joomla user group :
1. Free member
2. Premium member
3. Gold member

Create 3 Easysocial profile type :
1. Free member - assign to Free member user group
2. Premium Member - assign to Premium member user group
3. Gold Member - assign to Gold member user group

Create 3 different subscription plan from Payplan backend.
1. Free member
2. Premium Member (3 month subscription)
3. Gold Member (1 year subscription)

If I am not wrong you have to configure which subscription plan you would like to associated with your existing Easysocial profile type, but this one i am not sure whether Payplan allow to set each Easysocial profile type to each subscription plan.

I also believe if you would like to set your existing user to under which subscription plan, you can do it from Payplan backend page.

yes, I cannot use many profile type !!! as when it change the profile cannot edit

if I user juser, then it will have both register and paid joomla group checked

reply from payplan :

Hello,

In your scenario you want to assign only one profile type to all user's but usergroup will be different as per subscription.
So you need to create one profiletype in EasySocial and make it default. No need to create Easysocial Profile type.

Then create Jusertype app for plan which will assign user group on the basis of plan they subscribed.

Correct me if i misunderstood.

One thing I wonder too. If you create 2 different ES profiles types and then you have say 5 langauges in your site.

How do you change the ES profile languages type titles for different languages and also how do you change the ES profile type description for different languages in the same way so ES is language aware for these?

As know I only see you can write that title and description for each ES profile type and you dont want to create 4 extra ES language profile types just for changing language ES profile type title and description for different profile types.

That will be 5 x 2 = 10 different ES profile types just to set the right language title and description respectively

Yes, you can change it from backend > Easysocial > user > switch user profile type .

Yes, when you switch user to another profile type, you have to make sure your both profile type custom field is make as the same.

e.g if user register free first and save profile , interest and education in free profile type then later he pay and i change to paid type

the info also will bring to new profile type ?

that is the most i dont understand

i understand how to set payplan and easysocial work together actually

Yes, as I explained in you earlier question, you have to make your both profile type custom field to be same, so system can match back those custom field type and move over correctly.

seem once I in that profile , change then cannot edit ?

make it complicate when free upgrade to paid

Yes, when the user already register on your site, they can able to edit through your site frontend Easysocial user profile page.

yes, I cannot use many profile type !!! as when it change the profile cannot edit

Perhaps you can explain to us which user account unable to edit their profile from your frontend? So we can able to check on this.

As long as this setting you enable from Easysocial plugin (screenshot : http://take.ms/zoA5s ), the user only can register via Easysocial on your site.

Yes, based on what Payplan suggested, i believe it can help you achieve what your current requirement.

? i only use one profile in whole site

no extra profile for payplan and language !

it actually depend on what is your current requirement and what is your subscription plan, it will not create more confusing when you create more profile type.

The Easysocial system will automatically help you store those user data in database, it will not messy the user data from the database.
