I need to restrict access to ED menu items. When i change the permission within Global Config. then goto ED and select one of the restrict items it sends you to the Joomla Dashboard saying you can't access this item. Is there a way to hide the restricted menu items instead of just restricting access? All my user needs is access to the User management section. I don't need him constantly redirecting to Dashboard over a miss click.
I am not sure about this but I think it could work. Maybe you pick a placeholder menuitem and set this to registered and make submenu entries for the ED menu items and put them to public. I think the submenu is not shown when the main item is hidden.

Another way could be having two menus. One for registered and one for guests.

Hey LMG,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Perhaps you can provide us with your Joomla backend access so we can understand what is your current menu structure and provide you a better suggestion for this?

Also may i know which Easydiscuss menu item you would like to restrict?

By the way, thanks for sharing Sabih

I've tried to access in your Joomla backend but hitting this :
403: Access Forbidden
Your location (MY) has been blacklisted.

Hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

I can access in your website now, but it seems like you provided that login user account already get blocked, can you help again?

Warning
Login denied! Your account has either been blocked or you have not activated it yet.

By the way, I've checked in my local test site, but unfortunately that was not possible to hide it if that submenu which user group do not have permission to access in current system.

I will lock this issue into our issue tracker Easydiscuss 4.0.

Wish you Happy new year

Hey LMG,

I am able to access the back end of the site but I am not entirely sure which particular menu are you referring to here as this thread was created almost a month ago. Can you please advise the following:

1. What are you trying to achieve here? As I understand from your initial post above, you have created a menu item on the site and set a different permissions on the menu.

2. When accessing the menu, you are being redirected?

Can you please advise?

I need to restrict access to Easy Discus menu items.

1) When i change the permission within Global Config to restrict access to an item.
2) Logged in as a restricted user and select one of the restricted items, it sends you to the Joomla Dashboard saying you can't access this item.

I would like to have a restricted menu item hidden instead of just restricting access and crashing a user to dashboard. All my users need access to is the User management section under ED. I don't need him constantly redirecting to Dashboard over a miss click.
