In order to specifically assigned the category to Nickel themes is by:
1. Click EasyBlog>Categories>Used/Demos>And create the folder that appear (example: http://screencast.com/t/7OoRkmJKH )
2. After create the folder in the template file>Copy Nickel themes [DIR:../components/com_easyblog/thmese/nickel] into the folder
3. Refresh the Editting Category in the backend and select the custom template (example: http://screencast.com/t/OfrH6I7Nd ) and save the setting

One final question, is there a way to limit the intro text to let's say 100 characters from within the nickel php file?

You're welcome, you can configure this from backend > Easyblog > settings > layout > truncation

Thanks Arlex. If I change the truncation here will it not change the truncation for all my Themes? (i.e Default & Nickel templates)

For instance,

I have my regular blogs (using Default template) being truncated at let's say 200 characters.
I am wanting the used equipment blogs (using Nickel template) to be truncated at 75 characters,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Currently that was not possible to spilt it out the truncation setting only for Nickel theme in current system.
