Can you please give us some guidance on how to use the URL Shortener? It is installed and active but not working.
Forum suggests purging sh404sef but we are not using that...help?
URL Shortener on your site is already working so I am not too sure what is not working for you. Try viewing the link https://hakisaki.com/1068-stackideas

I dont want the 1068 in the URL... I just want http://www.website/username
My last question asked about that and the answer was to purchase the URL shortener. There is no difference.

There is a settings that allows you to disable the id in the plugin, http://take.ms/R2mbQ . I have turned this off for you now.

Thanks that works. Just out of curiosity, as I don't really want to get in to the politics of the development of ES, but why again is this a paid feature in 2.x? I understand that you wanted to add a unique key so if there were multiple users with the same name..but I have hundreds of users who have posted their url on social media, emails, etc with the shortened URL that was standard in 1.x, so it wasn't really an option for us or our users to NOT get the add-on. It's like twitter doing away with the #username and adding 3425-#username, that would impact alot of people

Simple reason, EasySocial is bloated with too much features and the price that you pay does not justify the amount of features in there but at the same time we cannot increase the core price of the extension because only a dozen more of users who needed this functionality.

Second reason being, there were too many conflicts with this feature and we had to extract this out from the core. This is one of the features that should have never been in the core as it introduces a lot of other complex operations.

People who really need this functionality could then fork out a small amount of just $15. If you hire someone to develop such functionality, it's going to cost you way more than $15

I hear you, all I am saying is that it's not the users fault it was standard in 1.x - and as far as only a dozen people needing it..That's not really the point - we really don't "need" it but it's too late as we accumulated hundreds of members while using 1.x and for them to keep their user url, we now "need" to buy it..it's just bad marketing optics in my opinion

To be honest $15 for the app that you only pay once is pretty acceptable in my opinion. Look at the benefits that it offers, it does outweigh the price.

There are other 3rd party plugins that costs even more.

I don't disagree, my only point was it's not really an option for us NOT to have it as a lot of our users have disseminated their profile urls (from 1.x). If we were new users and just started using your product from 2.x, I agree it is a good deal
