Hello,

Since version 2.0.11 of the URL Shortener plugin, on the parameters it is indicated :
"The setting 'Append User ID' has been deprecated in this version."

However, I use this plugin precisely for the function "Append User ID", to delete the id in urls profiles...
Can you reactivate this function please ?

I do not want to remove the id segment from other urls, by disabling the "SEF Urls To Use IDs" in EasySocial SEO option.
Because, if a user renames the title of a video or a photo album for example, the old url becomes obsolete, and we have 404 errors

Thank you,
Philippe
We do not consider to implement this back since we already standardized this in EasySocial 3.1.

If the site admin do not want to show the URL with id, they can able to turn it off by this setting from backend > Easysocial > Setting > General > SEO > SEF Urls To Use IDs , so it will affect with all the Easysocial URLs.

Because, if a user renames the title of a video or a photo album for example, the old url becomes obsolete, and we have 404 errors

I am lost here, if the user rename the title of a video in older version of Easysocial, it will change the video alias as well.
In other word, when the user rename the title of a video in newest version of Easysocial, it will update the video alias and it shouldn't show 404 error.

Unless you mean that those existing video URL you already indexed in Google search server or those video already shared on other place, so this will affected.

Hello Arlex

Yes it is the disadvantage of removing the id segment.
If a user changes the title of a video, its alias and thus its url is modified. The previous url is invalid.
And we get "Null primary key not allowed."

I think it's great to be able to delete the id of a user profile (to do as with Facebook and Twitter), or an EasySocial app (example polls app).
But for a video, an album is dangerous. Because this can penalize the SEO in case of change of aliases.

The URL Shortener plugin is useless.
You could at least have left the option "Append User ID".

Actually I would like to understand which kind of situation it will trying to access this 'previous url'? Are you referring those search engine indexed these "previous url"?

Is it possible show us one of the example for this why it get penalized?

Because if the user modify the video title, system will update video URL alias as well, if the search engine already indexed these existing video old URL, mean this situation also will get penalized?

Hello Arlex,

Thank you for your patience.

Yes exatly I am referring to urls indexed previously by search engine.

The solution would be maybe an automatic redirection system, in case of change of alias.

No problem Philippe, but we do not have any automatic redirection system for handle this.

I think the faster way is re-submit sitemap to Google so Google can able to re-index your site again with the existing page URLs.
