Hi,

I have pasted my API Key from my user area of your website into my Joomla Administrator section for the upgrade of EasyBlog. It won't work, however, and I get the following error message. Please advise on how I can upgrade. Thank you! Andy

Error Please enter the correct API key. You may generate it from http://stackideas.com/account/my-account.html ...
hey andrew,
I guess you try to upgrade from 3.8, right? the auto-updater only works in the same branch. so when you have 3.8.x you can always use the auto-updater to the latest 3.8.x.x.x version but not to 3.9 then.

to upgrade to a new major version you need to upload the package manually via the extension installer, that will work fine.
hope that helps

Hello Andrew and Alex

Alex, you're right.

Andrew, if you upgrading from EasyBlog 3.8.x or older to 3.9.x requires a full uninstall / installation. The reason is because there are some core files which were modified in this release and running the updater would actually break things.

Rest assured that your data would not get erased when you perform an uninstall. Theme files and other core files would however get erased, so if you have made any modifications, it's best to make a backup of the modifications first.

Hope this was helpful.

Best Regards
Arlex
