I have the exactly same problem as last time with upgrade of EasySocial

Installation via the Network - Downloading Installation Files... Failed (stuck at 10%)
Please download the new launcher from our site at http://stackideas.com/dashboard

http://stackideas.com/forums/upgrade-to-easysocial-v1-3-11-not-working

Is this caused by hosting problem?

Hope you guys can help us again installing the update.

Anders
Hello Anders,

I have tried to upgrade EasySocial on your site to the latest version but I don't seem to hit any errors. Can you give this a try again?

Thanks Mark. Great support as usual

This is so strange.
I don't understand why I'm getting installation problems and not you.

This is probably because Mark installed it via installing a new launcher. Using the auto upgrade from ES's dashboard from ES 1.3.11 to ES 1.3.12 also failed on my end when not installing a new launcher (further evidence for this claim is that mine also stopped at 10%). This is the number one reason I proposed a link back the Joomla admin panel because this issue is common. I'm curious about why a launcher is needed with each new update? Maybe it's only some updates.

Hm, Josh do you mean you hit errors when using the "updater" tool when upgrading from 1.3.11 to 1.3.12 ? I will need to run some checks locally.

Yes, when using the one from ES's dashboard page in the Joomla admin area. The launcher upgrade however did work, but required a download.

Yup, I've had to re-download the launcher tool for the last 4 updates in order to upgrade, as mentioned above by Josh.
No biggie.

Thanks for heading up on this, the reason why this time update from Easysocial backend page you guys will hitting this issues is because we have updated some of the code in the installation php file, so you guys have to download the launcher from http://stackideas.com/dashboard and install from Joomla backend > extension manager.

Installation via the Network - Downloading Installation Files... Failed (stuck at 10%)

I've got no problem installing the next launcher, but I am curious if this will get resolved in the next update? To me this is a minor issue because it doesn't hurt functionality, but it will bring in more requests from people wondering why the upgrade failed. Also it is convenient to have the auto upgrader.

Hello Ken,

Thanks for getting back to us quickly.

It seems like you hitting the file permission issues, check my screenshot below.

{"state":false,"message":"There was some errors when extracting the archive from the server. If the problem still persists, please contact our support team.<br \/><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/stackideas.com\/forums\" class=\"btn btn-es-inverse\" target=\"_blank\">Contact Support<\/a>"}

When the system trying to extract this admin.zip file then hitting file permission issues, then stuck in 10%
Can you consult with your Webhosting provider regarding this? Please advise.

Hi there, the server is a dedicated on. Included is the updated SSH and ftp password. I find it weird since I have chmod 777 everything and still no luck.

Ken, might be a dumb thing to suggest, but check ownership of files and folders on server. Won't matter what permissions they have.

Also, as an added bonus, I can recommend ACL manager, it's a brilliant tool.

Hello Ken,

Sorry for late reply to this, as you mentioned you are changing with your files/folders's permission to 777 is not advisable.
This makes your site "very" vulnerable to hacking. As for file permission issues, can you consult with your Webhosting provider regarding this?
After your webhosting provider give some respond for you, keep us updated then.
