I researched other instances reported when others had problems upgrading using the autoupgrade, but I don't know which of these would apply to my situation. It's been stuck at 10% for nearly 3 hours at the installing database stage, I think it was?

Is there something I should be doing to make this upgrade work? And will the upgrade wipe out any of the customizing/hacks that Support have added to my site?
Hello Troy,

we have successfully updated your easy social to the latest version, you may have a look

Hello Troy Tolley,

You should do the backup all of your customization file first before you update.
Let's us know when you're ready, so we will try to update EasySocial for you and see is it hitting the same error? Please advise.

I saved a backup copy of the custom.css file, but I don't know where all of the other hacks may have been inserted. Several were done behind the scenes by Support. Will an upgrade destroy all of those? If I am good with the custom.css backup, then I am good to go. Should I take the site offline during upgrade?

Hello Troy Tolley,

Yes, if your hack didn't put in your template, after you update of Easysocial , then all of your customization code will be erased.
Yes, put your site offline is the better way when doing the update.

Arlex, since Support put in a few hacks where I don't know how to get to them, I won't be able to back those up. I guess I will have to go back though each of my discussion threads and ask for them again.

Okay, I took the site offline (even though it's still loading as if not offline - not sure why). You can start the upgrade. Thanks! Let me know what happens.

Hey Guys.

This is the 3rd post I see with error in upgrade and second concerning a stall at 10%... seems like there is something going. Can you make a general annoucement. Seems something goes wrong.
Maybe a poll asking how the upgrade went ?

Thanks

I guess I'm going to try to do this myself again. I'm not sure what's going on. Since responses are normally very fast, efficient, and so helpful, I'm not complaining, but I just wondered what I was to do next.

Mines @ 10% too.

I'm wondering if it's to do with security. If they've not had an issue updating sites with this update package on their server, yet we do on ours?

I'm sure they'll get a fix asap.

I have some extra security on my admin as well as Admintools and Akeeba. I disabled it all and still had the same problem. The error logs are not catching anything. I also check file and directory permissions and ownership. All checked out OK. The one strange thing was that the 1.2.17 component file disappears from the setup/packages directory during the time when the 10% issue stalls.

Maybe Support disappeared for the day to work on this, I wonder? I've never seen such a stretch with no responses, so they must be scrambling. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Same problem here on a clean Joomla install. I went ahead and used the normal extension installation this time.

Hello Troy Tolley,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply, because my last reply at around 3am. Hope you understand.

Okay, let's focus on your current installation issues first, I knew you have do a lot of customization on your EasySocial, can you do a backup for all the EasySocial file first? So we can try to investigate on this? Please advise.

Thanks, Arlex!! No worries. I knew there was a time difference, but just got worried when everyone seemed to disappear. There always seems to be someone here responding, so that was just a surprise. I hope you got some rest! Thanks for looking into this.

I did a full Akeeba backup, the site is offline, so let's see what happens.

Let me know.

Thanks, Kheng! I appreciate both things. Did you have to update it manually, or did the autoupgrade work for you? Seems like a lot of people were sharing the same experience I had. What was up? Thanks again!

To confirm,

You can download the Full Easy Social component (one highlighted in screenshot attached)
and upload via standard Joomla! extensions manager. All seems good.

Hello Guys,

Sorry for late reply to this,
First you can download the full package install from your backend extension manager as Ryan mentioned that.

Second you can download the launcher installer zip file > upload install from extension manager > then select Installation via the Network > insert your API key > install.

Hope this help.
