Hello,

Easyblog Version 3.9.24862
Using the com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.20_joomla3.0.zip file to upgrade via joomla installer.

I am upgrading to your latest version of Easyblog today on my DEV site and the install goes well (pre-reqs passed, etc...) and I can see it show success on everything until it gets to 45% on the Post Installation Cleanup section and hangs at initializing. I leave it there for ages and it does nothing.

Looking through the forums, it seems lots of other people have had the same problem and you have been fixing people's sites. As this is a DEV site (local to me), can you please let me know what you are doing to fix this?

Also, this installation has destroyed my Joomla site! Now a blank white page that displays no errors after turning logging on. If I re-install 3.9, it fixes it. Something isn't right with this upgrade package.

thanks Pete

Same issues here, administrator went blank, site and backend was inaccessible. I have unlimited sites running easyblog. Please provide fix to problem instead of asking for ftp for many sites.

Ok I fixed the issue. This is it.
Do a clean install of easyblog
Step 1 - Uninstall current versions of Easyblog
Go to Extensions Manager>>On the left hand side click Manage>>A listing comes up, in the search bar type in easyblog, select all and click uninstall (Make sure easyblog admin is deleted too)

Step 2 - Install easyblog 5.0.20
Extensions>>Choose File to Upload>>Follow instructions

Hope this helps.

Have you tried changing the max upload size in php.ini?

Hi Cheryl,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply due to the different timezone here in our country. It seems like you have fixed the issue on your site. There are numbers of reason why the installation could go wrong. Most of the time is because of the file permission issue or the required value inside php.ini is too low. Nevertheless glad that your issue has been resolved now.

Hi Peter and Dario,

You can try to check my suggestion above and see if one of them is not meeting the correct requirement to install easyblog 5.

Thanks for the replies for everyone.

My php is set to 128M.

My permissions for Joomla are correct and all writeable.

When I run the upgrade, Easyblog confirms my site meets all requirements.

Any other ideas? Any logs you need?

thanks
Pete

I would personally prefer that you start a new thread instead and provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this?

hey Peter,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as we are currently having a Joomla conference here in Malaysia and most of the team are involved in the preparation.

You're welcome. By the way, this issue already solved in latest version of Easyblog 5.0.21.

No, sadly it isn't fixed in 5.0.21. And running those SQL fixes isn't helping either. =(
I have also disabled and content plugins as suggested in another thread. Uggh... Must be something else bumping heads on my site then. Errrr!

I can't, I don't have a developer subscription, and my problem is not on my main domain here.

I have EB on 3 accounts. My main, I have not tried to update yet.
It uploaded fine to one of my other domains. But not on the third small domain.
I just have to find out what it is bumping heads with. I will play with it more today and see.

UPDATE: Even though it got stuck at 45% still... I was able to exit installation, and it shows that it is up to date with the latest version! Don't know why it stuck, but I guess the SQL worked for the most part.

Thanks for the help/concern Arlex! =)

Hi there,

Hm. Not really sure what is happening with the installation on your site since we do not have direct access into it. In case there are some issue on the site you can try to rerun the maintenance script and database script and see if the issue will resolve.
