I upgraded my site at https://www.starch-smart.com to Joomla 3.6.4 and had my home page disappear with a JSON error.

By trial and error I discovered that the problem appears to be caused by a module of type EasySocial Users that is in the grid1 position on the home page.

I have disabled that module for you to take a look.

The name of the module is "Recent Member Visits".
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I already found this which user data causing this issue :

User ID - 1109
Name : CCP User

I've help you update the correct valid JSON string from the params data, it should work fine now, can you give it a check now?

Hey Sean,

The reason why you hitting this error is because Joomla 3.6.4 onward if detect any invalid JSON string from the #__users table data, it will directly show that error on the page.

Can you provide us with this this site starch-smart.com Joomla backend and FTP access?

Thank you. I just updated the ticket.

BTW, if you could tell me which user has the problem I would be very appreciative. I reported this issue to my host already because the last time the user with the problem was one they automatically create with every account. They said they will get it fixed. In a way I am hoping this problem is also with the account they created.

Thank you. I am sorry because I was trying to edit this information into the Additional Information box in the first post of this thread. I did not realize that I could not edit there and save because the information displayed is from the Site Details section.

I just now added the Starch-Smart login and access information into my Site Details Additional Information

Sorry for the slow reply. I am not turning on the module because it basically shuts down the home page.

The module details are:

Title: Recent Member Visits

Position: Grid1

Type: EasySocial Users

ID: 266

When you turn it on then you will get a JSON error and the home page will not work.

I don't seem to see any "Recent member visits" module on your site, http://take.ms/Ru1yd

Based on your input, you mentioned that the module's id is 266 and in the module manager, id 266 is the module, "John McDougall MD Links" as you can see here, http://take.ms/fwV9f
