As always, (never had an install withouten problems) i'm experiencing some problems with updating easysocial to a newer version.

When trying to update to 1.3.17 via the component zip file (that i uploaded to the setup dir) the installation gets stuck at 20%. Trying again via the download option i've got the message that i had to download the newest launcher.
So i downloaded the newest launcher and installed it via my backend.
After the installation of the launcher i see on my dashboard that i'm on 1.3.17 but the dashboard panel has become non-responsive and it doesn't show any details. I think i still have to update the component buti don't get the message anymore.

On the frontend the horizontal task bar (with the messages) has become non responsive as same with filter and feed options.

Can you please help he? I provided you with the site details.

Kind regards

Kjell
Hello Kjell,

Can you reprovide the access details because I can't access both backend and FTP.

Hi Nick,

I thought I filled in the details.
You'll find the ftp and password in the details.

In the backend of easysocial i've noticed that a lot of buttons are non-responsive too.

Thx

Kjell

Ok, good news...
This is what i did:
1st installed the launcher again
2nd followed the update procedure
- via downloader: gets stuck at step 4
- via ftp uploaded package after the 4th try did the installer go to 95% (i waited for 30 min)

3rd i tested on the frontend and backend. Seems that everything works.

Is it a problem that the install didn't go further than 95% ?

Hello Kjell,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I have checked your site and it seems like the reason that you are hitting these errors is because the system is taking too long to copy the files from the temporary folder into your Joomla root directory.

Take a look at my screen shot here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-02-08_1723.png . It seems like it's most likely that there is some "load" issues on the server which causes such a delay in copying files.

In short, the reason that you hit this error is because before the script got a response from the server, it has already timed out. Could you check this with your hosting provider and see if they can give more insights on this?

Thanks for checking. I'll contact my provider tomorrow... (weekend too )

Actually, my next question was why easysocial was performing so bad on speed.
But tomorrow will give an answer.

Have a nice weekend

Hi Arlex,

Well i just contacted my host and they did a refresh on the domain. So hopefully that'll solve the problem.
When i recall, i'v experienced the same issue with the initial install of Easysocial: the install stopping at a certain percentage.

Can you do a check on de domain if things are solved?

Hello Kjell Provost,

Thanks for getting back to us,

I have tried to access in your frontend and backend, but it seems like after your Hosting refresh on your domain, then it become very slow.
Did you try access any page from your backend?

By the way, can you request with your hosting help you increase this 2 php information from your server?
max_execution_time 50 to 300
max_input_time 60 to 300

Arlex,

They were not able to change the php settings.
What i did as a test was to install a different joomla template from joomlart: Elastica.
The template is based on T3 framework and the website is really flashing right now.
Easysocial runs a lot faster on this framework.

Hello Ajell,

Sorry for late reply to this,
They were not able to change the php settings.
What i did as a test was to install a different joomla template from joomlart: Elastica.
The template is based on T3 framework and the website is really flashing right now.
Easysocial runs a lot faster on this framework.

As my colleague Mark already figured the issues is because the system is taking too long to copy the files from the temporary folder into your Joomla root directory so the installation will not get complete.
Since you contacted your webhosting provider and confirmed they were not able to help you increase the php value, in other word, you will always hitting this same issues when you trying to update in Easysocial.

By the way, can you make sure your FTP login credential is working? Because I'm not able to access your FTP account.
Because i keep hitting this ;

Server said: Login authentication failed

Hello ssnobben,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I would personally prefer that you start a new thread instead if you can't find out your previous original post and provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this.

At the same time, can you consult with your Webhosting provider regarding this error message when you trying to install Easysocial in your site? Because you hitting this most likely is because file permission issues.
