Can you update from 3.9 to 5 with the updater in the dashboard? Or do you use the Joomla installer to install and overwrite 3.9? In may updater it says that 3.9.24862 is the latest version.
Hi Tony,

You can download EB 5 launcher file or the full archive and use Joomla Extension Manager to install EB5. I would suggest doing this in a copy of your site and make sure everything is working properly before you install it in your live website.

Thanks,

Jackson

as LAC said - do you self a favour and make some test runs on a test site first!

best way is to uninstall old v3.x and reinstall v5.x with joomla extension manager.

I am running it on a test site. I Overwrote the old version. Everything seems right so far except I can't find where to edit parameters of the theme. When I go to themes I only have a choice to make default or recompile less. I see no theme previews and settings for the individual themes. I don't see a place in the general settings either. Some of the elements that I had disabled before are back. Maybe they can only be edited in css and raw file edits? I had turned off show author and the pagination bar at the bottom. Also turned off powered by easyblog..

Hi Tony Young,

Sorry for late reply to this,

Unfortunately that was not possible, you have to download the Easyblog 5 launcher installer zip file from http://stackideas.com/dashboard then install from your backend extension manager.

I am running it on a test site. I Overwrote the old version. Everything seems right so far except I can't find where to edit parameters of the theme. Yes, that was correct default behaviour in Easyblog 5, because we already re-structure it move all the theme setting based on the category setting and the menu item. Take a look of my screenshot below.

By the way, Thanks Jackson and noobster sharing this information on this post thread.

Thanks! That works 90% A couple of things that do not seem right is that in the category settings I have font sizer turned off, but it is still on. (http://66.147.244.187/~allaccf9/index.php/blog/entry/easter-egg-hunt-becomes-a-family-focused-reminder)

Also the images are not showing up on the page above even though blog image is turned on. You can see the post intro with images on the dev home page at http://66.147.244.187/~allaccf9/index.php. Once clicking continue reading, the follow page does not have the images.

I also had a "EasyBlog New Post Module" on the site that does not show up now. It should be at the foot of the page next to the login. Is that because it's not compatible with version 5?

Hello Tony Young.

1) Please copy this code and overwrite the code in ...\components\com_easyblog\themes\wireframe\blogs\entry\fontsize.php at line 14
<?php if ($this->entryParams->get('post_font_resize', true)) { ?>

2)Can you provide us with joomla backend and FTP access so we can check on the issue directly?

3) Please replace your mod_easybloglatestblogs.xml with this attachment file in ...\modules\mod_easybloglatestblogs

Hope this help

The only other thing to address now is why the EasyBlog New Post Module will not show up on the site even though it is published. I have even set it to public on this dev site to see if it show up. It should be in the copyrightC position at the bottom of the page at http://66.147.244.187/~allaccf9/index.php. Next to the login button. I have tried setting it up two different ways and does not show up. Even if I set the module title to show, it doesn't even show the title. Site details added.
