Here are the error messages that appeared on my site after updating EasyBlog to version 5:

However, I had also upgraded Joomla and a couple other applications. I am now rolling everything back and I am going to update my Joomla first and then update my EasyDiscuss and Komento as well. Then I will test. It is is all working I will then back up again before updating EasyBlog so that I have a fast roll back path if the problem ends up being EasyBlog.

Another software I use that was upgraded was JSitemap Pro. Anyhow, I am not giving you the access instructions in this message because the site is being recovered as I write. So, I will inform you more later. But, I wanted you to see the errors in case they were familiar.

Thank you, Sean Carney

PS. The site is at Starch-Smart.com
Ok. I just tested again. I was able to update everything and all was well until I updated EasyBlog.

I am now recovering my site again. I am thinking maybe it is actually the modules that are breaking.

I need to read up on updating EasyBlog I guess and make sure I change all my modules out. So, it will be a bigger task than I thought.

When any installations in Joomla fails, 9 out of 10 times (my personal experiences) there are comparability issues.
Check out if your server fits the system requirements for easyblog.

Hey Sean,

I am really sorry that delay of this reply,

That could be one more thing causing this issue, you have to update all the blog app in your Easysocial. http://stackideas.com/apps (example : blog field, blog app, etc)

Keep us updated then if still having the issue.

By the way, thanks for sharing Jostein.

Thank you Arlex,
I had assumed the apps would update with the software component. Thank you for telling me. I will have to wait till I have more time and can set it up in a test environment. I will then update the component, the apps and the modules and see what happens. In the meantime I can update all my other software and just leave my EasyBlog for later.

Hey Sean,

Sure, do keep us updated on this We are planning to revamp the way apps are being updated in the future. Rather than having you to manually download, we plan to build a web service which alerts you when an app is outdated.

Mark,
That is one very good piece of news you just gave me. I will be so grateful for that web service once you have it built.
I hope you will consider doing the same things for your modules!
