Hi Team,

our website is about to renew it's front-end layout, also the menu items and categories.
right now we have like a hundred posts on the website.

and i got two questions,

1. If i want to re-structure the categories(means i'll get rid of the old categories), i have to update each post one by one, or is there any way i can do it more efficient, faster?

2. when i was setting up my new menu and categories. i want to setup a couple main categories in easyblog, and these main categories will also matched with my new menu items, but every main categories will have sub-categories, and these sub-categories will be used in every post. which means i want sub-categories as primary. (attach image 01)

but the questions is, if i set this up, when i click that post, except the post content itself, the page layout will show up other modules from other pages.(attach image 02)

so the questions is, is that possible i can set my sub-categories as primary categories, and after i click the post, i will show the post content only.

Hope my description not too confuse to you.

Thanks,
Amy.
Hey there,

for questions 1, if it's the case that my new category has multiple sub-categories under it. even though i use the "move" function, after i move the post to new category, i still have to re-assign sub-categories for every post. is that correct?

You can straight away choose your subcategory as shown in the screenshot for an example.

as for question 2,
so in case i need to eliminate those modules appear in my post, the only way is to create single category for every category?

No, I will take your 'CG 好好康' module for an example.

The reason that I asked you to do this is because in your 'CG 好好康' module settings' Menu Assignment, you just tick '新聞聚焦' which is 'Frontpage' menu item type only.

what if i had a lot of categories need to be build? but i don't want all these categories to be show in the menu?

You can create a hidden menu for it as shown in the 2nd screenshot.

You can do this by selecting the posts that you want, then select 'Move' on the dropdown of 'Other Actions' to move the category that you want as shown in the 1st screenshot. After you move it, the category that you move to, it will set as primary automatically.

but the questions is, if i set this up, when i click that post, except the post content itself, the page layout will show up other modules from other pages.(attach image 02)

I will take your post '實用建築美學設計暨 Lumion 9新品發表研討會' for an example.

I noticed this post's primary category is 'lumion'. Also, I noticed that you do not have a '(Categories) Single Category' menu item type for your category 'lumion'. Since you do not have it, it will refer to your 'Frontpage' menu item type. So this is why the modules will show up.

You just need to create a '(Categories) Single Category' menu item type for your category 'lumion' and it should be fine.

Can you have a try and see how it goes?
