The installer hangs when trying to update.

I haven't been able to work out why exactly (this happened before when we were initially migrating it and someone fixed it but didn't mention how it was fixed https://stackideas.com/forums/update-stuck-on-initializing-database-synchronization)

PHP settings seem to be OK with enough resources allocated.
Hi Matthew,

When I try to connect to your ftp through Filezilla, it's not workking: http://take.ms/j5iwf

For cpanel, it appears I do not have the second layer access: http://take.ms/78Iry

Please advice. Thanks.

Hey Matthew,

I am currently checking your site and it looks like the error is pretty random. It happens very randomly and I am suspecting that there is some false positive checks or throttling that is prevented by your web server as it is throwing a 404 error, http://take.ms/9lOdp .

Upon inspecting further, that particular 404 page isn't being generated by Joomla because it did not even reach the /administrator/index.php file.

Could you check with your web host about the logs?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for looking!

I was trying to rule out a similar issue with that we had a few months back and didn't know what was done to get it to install.

I now suspect it's a hosting issue as well. Ever since we moved it over to the clients host it's been headache after headache. I keep telling them they need a new host but the host convinces them it's bugs with Joomla or extensions and they decide to stick around. The downtime alone would be enough for me to pack up and run. The other day it was offline for almost two days and the host went in and deleted some random database records, one being the user configuration JSON </rolls eyes> and some menu items and blamed the 2 days offline on bad JSON.

Aside from the crap configuration they run I think the server lacks resources. Even with the PHP settings being more than ample it doesn't seem like it takes much to freeze up.

I asked them to get logs but based on their seemingly lack of knowledge in running servers they probably don't know how to find them.

Hey Matt!

Thanks for getting back to me on this. Yep, I can be very sure that this issue is somehow a false positive reject by the web server or probably some sort of throttling. The reason is because I tried to add a debug code in Joomla's administrator/index.php file and it didn't even reach that file

Yeah, it ***** to have a host like this!
