Hit another brick wall with Easyblog 5. Luckily I managed to get this weeks post out, prior to upgrading as I am now no longer able to publish any posts and instead get the following error:

Unexpected token |

There does not seem to be any more information available. FYI - I am running Easyblog 5.0.16 and Joomla 3.4.3

Appreciate any help you can offer. I have created a temporary Admin account for you. Please let me know when you're done, so that I can disable.

Regards,

Tim
Hi Tim Gurney,

Can you assign you provided that user account have SuperAdmin privileges so that I can enable the error_reporting to Maximum from your backend > global configuration > then check on what error show out?

OK, I have set Error Reporting to maximum but it did not change the on-screen Error when I tried to post again. Does it create a log file somewhere that I can forward to you?

Hey Tim,

Are you writing this post from the back end? It looks like when a URL is made to http://site.com.au/administrator/?option=com_easyblog , it hits some error but if the URL is made to http://site.com.au/administrator/index.php?option=com_easyblog it didn't hit any errors.

Replace the site.com with your real domain.

Hi Mark,

Yes, I log into the Joomla Admin area then choose Components->Easbylog->Posts which puts me on:

http://site.com.au/administrator/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=blogs

+New and type blog then try to Publish and it fails with the Unexpected Token | error

I have also just tried it with the alternate: /administrator/index.php?option=com_easyblog but that does not work for me either.

Very odd.

Hi Tim Gurney,

Yes, that was strange, because when you submit the blog post, the system get "invalid token error", can you provide us with your FTP access so I can troubleshoot on this issues?

Also, may i know do you have using Sh404SEF extension in your site?

Hi Arlex,

I have 3 other people's websites hosted on the same server, so not keen to share FTP access (nothing personal). If you need me to verify, or update, anything I am happy to do that.

Yes, I am using SH404SEF and have been for some 18 months or so without any issue. It certainly seemed to work OK with EasyBlog 3.9 but let me know if you need me to change any configuration settings.

Regards,
Tim

Hey Tim,

We need the FTP access to run some tests on the site. Is there any way for you to restrict a specific ftp account for your site's folder only?

OK. Please see attached.

I have two other sites hosted from this account so please do not touch the acolourid or neobookkeeping sites in the root of the public HTML.

Whilst you're logging in, to look at this posting issue, you might as well also take a look at the Facebook Share issue that I flagged under Ticket: #209256 if that is possible. Please let me know once done, so that I can secure the site.

See attached. Apologies

With regards to issue #209256 it was titled: Facebook Button Not Showing and was essentially just that, the Facebook share button is not displaying underneath blog articles alongside the others, I was about to send you a screenshot, except now it is work. I am guessing you're logged in and looking at this at the moment. Thanks

Any news on this? I have a couple of new blog posts that I am working on and, if Easyblog 5 is not going to work I may need to revert to the previous version.

Hey Tim,

I am sorry that delay of this reply, after investigated long time ago, it seems like your .htaccess doing some restriction so hitting this issues, can you try temporary remove this restriction code from your .htaccess file, it should work.

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.html [NC,L]

By the way, may i know what is the restriction for this?

Thanks Arlex. The lines were put in my my host to effectively strip away the .html extension and tidy up URLs however it never really worked, so in consult with them I have backed up the .htaccess and removed the lines. Having just tried to create a blog post, without the lines in place it does indeed work. Thanks a lot for your help with this.
