Dear StackIdeas Team,

Good day! Can you please help me out? The users in my website are unable to save their updated profiles, myself included. Whenever I hit save after filling out the fields, this message appears:

There was some error in your form. Please correct the respective fields.

Can you kindly help me figure out the best way to have this issue fixed? Thank you so much in advance!
Hello Mary,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

Hi, Mark! It's a huge company website and I can't give access to the back-end and FTP. Perhaps if you could provide me with some information on why this error occurs, it might help. I have the latest version of the component, website is running on Joomla 3.2.1.

I have tried to see if the values in the custom fields I have created were creating the errors but even though I changed them, the error is still there. Can you please help? Thank you and I hope to hear back from you!

Hello Mary,

Hm, to be honest with you there could be several reasons as to why the profile saving is not happening and I can't really know what is wrong unless I take a look at your current setup. The only possible reason that you are hitting that error when you save is when one of the custom fields is marked as required and you probably did not field out this particular field when you are editing your profile.

Okay. I will check each custom field. Thank you! In case I want to do an uninstall/re-install, will I lose saved user profiles?

Hello Mary,

I am sorry for the late reply.
I believe not. Because user profiles are saved in database and you will not lose this. However, if you delete the database, then the user profiles will be deleted as well. I believe you already know this. Looking forward to hear from you again.

Please do update us.
Thanks.

Hi, Mohd and Mark! Thank you both for your replies. Right now, saving profile has been resolved by allowing the user to update the "Basic Information" tab, which contains the fields for name, email address, username, etc. Is there any way that the user could save his/her profile but have the Basic Information tab hidden / not editable by user?

Hello Mary,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Are you referring to EasySocial edit profile? I believe there is settings in EasySocial where you can hide the tab. To configure this, you can check: Components > EasySocial > Profile Types > (profile name) > Custom Field > Basic Information > Edit > Appear During Editing = No . http://screencast.com/t/6vioJ9pIi .

Hope this will help.
Thanks.
