I want to test upgrading a replica of my site to use EasyBlog 5 but was not able to because the installer returned a message that I do not have a valid license.

The sites I want to eventually update are at http://www.drcarney.com and https://www.starch-smart.com

I just now replicated my drcarney.com site to samag.cloudaccess.net to test but was not able to get the installer to work using the standard joomla installer which is how I expected it would work.

Is there a workaround for testing purposes?

Thank you, Sean Carney
Hello Sean Carney.

I suggest you to use directory installation in your test site. Download the full package. On the step 2, choose install via directory. http://screen.stackideas.com/update_6.png

Hope this help

I had tried that also yesterday and had problems with it. but, today I did the install and it did seem to work except that the entire site immediately disappeared. Something about this install changed something! :-) Fortunately this is a test site so no harm done.

At this point I believe I will wait on doing the EasyBlog 5 upgrade. :-)

I am looking forward to using it eventually though.

Also, I am assuming that I will also need to upgrade all my modules to version 5 modules?

Hi Sean Carney,

Sorry for late reply to this,

Perhaps you can upload your test site into live site so that we can take a look of this.

You no need manually update the module is because now the Easyblog 5 installation already included this.

Thank you Arlex,

My test site is live. I will give you access here.

Whatever we figure out here I will have to do on the live site afterwards to start using EasyBlog 5.

Interestingly my component updated but none of my modules updated. Maybe there were no updates for the modules.

Unfortunately after the installation of EasyBlog 5 I lost access to the front end and the backend of the test site. So, I can't give you the joomla access. Actually I can give you what I believe was the access I set up for you on the site which I replicated to this test site which was working until the EasyBlog install.

I can give you ftp access to the test site

Thank you very much,

Can you let me know what I did wrong? I did notice a couple problems right away.

1) The two blog display modules on the home page are not visible.

2) None of my blogs show at the blog page http://samag.cloudaccess.net/blog

One thought came to me is that I had possibly replicated my site without turning off all caching?

Either way, I believe I will come back to EasyBlog 5 a little later. Mostly because I am under some time restraints which prevent me from troubleshooting right now to figure out what might be wrong.

Thank you for looking into this for me!!!

I love the look of the editor. I wonder why I do not see any of the block types for dragging videos, etc.. into the blog? Is there a setting for that? Again, I better come back later and try this out. But... I am intrigued and looking forward to being able to upgrade my sites! :-)

Hello Sean,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

For some reason your webserver does not displaying any error reporting on your site even if I turn on joomla error reporting to maximum. Without any some sort of error message its quite to figure out what went wrong on your site. Can you consult with your webhosting service provider to turn on error reporting to maximum so it will be easier for us to identify the issue?

Yes there are. You can change the editor from your backend > easyblog > settings > composer > editor, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-26_1100.png and also from your backend > easyblog > authors > select your author > basic settings > editor, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-26_1102.png

Hope these help and please advise.
