Hello has anyone made any tutorials on making applications & widgets?

I've had a scan of the docs but being that I'm not so computor clever cannot make fast sense of it and wondered if their is a simplyfied version/ video tutorial.

I basically have an idea for an app and a widget that should be relatively easy to create, I'm just looking for a finger in the right direction because to the untrained mind the developer docs arent enough on their own I dont think.

it shouldnt be like trying to understand string theory or supersymmetry, but for the moment it may as well be so any advise would be good thanks.
