Hello the team,

Do you have plan to make a documentation about workflows and custom fields with all possibilities and combinations?

I understood the main operation but at this time I think that ES user profile component is too much "BASIC". I expected to get more possibilities.

Maybe it is missing me some info...
Hey Tony,

The custom fields in EasySocial is very flexible and it could get really sophisticated too if you configure it to be. Each profile type, group category, event category and page category are associated with a workflow.

A workflow determines the process of creation / editing of the user. You can add / remove custom fields or steps in the workflow.

I understood your explanation but custom field system is too basic.

To explain my mind, Users are not free:
- if a user want add a new work experience, he can't
- I can't let user adding a new entry in a select field list

Maybe this is because I am working with Jreviews and there are a ton of possibilities for setting the fields but, in my opinion ES User profile component does not allow freedom. Each field are displayed line by line and there is no possibility to display better the fields without overriding all component files in Easysocial.

Hm, could you show me an example of what you are trying to achieve so that I can understand better? Because, to be honest, I am a little lost here.

Oh, so you mean the user could repeat the field if they want to? Currently I believe we do have two called multi text field and multi dropdown field.

I took a look to multi text field and multi dropdown field but I think it is missing "Group field" to repeat "a group field" like in Facebook or Jreviews. Also, it missing some es-profile-position in User profile, Event profile, Group profile, Page profile for setting how Info have to be displayed and build something more adapted and pro.

Hm, do you mean like a virtual group field where user could duplicate the entire group? Hm, that's a pretty nifty feature.

Exactly. This is the reason why Jreviews is a great component all is customizable and there is infinite possibilities also with Easyarticles if custom fields were compatible. Please see this Jreviews post https://forum.jreviews.com/topic/29690-easy-articles-from-stackideas-useful-for-jreviews/?hl=easyarticles

Glad to know you are interested by the idea to improve custom fields management in Easysocial.
I think it was missing and when I red feature request to sump In my opinion this will fix a lot of request about profile, category, tag, hashtag, custom field...

Hey Tony,

Yep, to be honest EasySocial has a lot of flexibility in that sense, but everyone wants everything and we can only accommodate as much as we can in each major releases

It is an art to manage to satisfy the largest number. It is never obvious. But two questions settle to the users: why to propose a nth social network because there are so much? What it brings in addition?

Yep, this is why we have a feature requests area We are going to be adding proper voting functionality on it soon so we get to see what our customers really wants.

On our previous feature requests section, everyone has unlimited votes and anyone can vote. It becomes tricky because every user is voting on every single feature.

With the new voting feature on the board, each users would only be allocated with 10 votes and this would certainly amplify features that is really most wanted

Yes I think it will be better for you to know how about. Maybe giving us some direction/rules on new feature request system for example:
- not personal customization;
- feature request might be interesting to the largest Stackideas customers (e.g. Video Games is not)
- ...

Yeah, very true. In fact, I am already half way through it. It would be based on a proposal / agreement concept where anyone can submit a proposal and the team will need to be able to accept the proposal before it could be voted.

Otherwise, it would be inappropriate if there are a lot of xxx website owners that wants to add "xxx" features which doesn't benefit much :|

I agree with you.

In your opinion, new development will be immediately joined? Or we will have to wait each major release (once a year)?

What I meant by development was the feature requests section on the forum We actually release a major release every 3 months but there was a delay this year because we pushed too many features on EasySocial 2.1. Moving forward, we are breaking things down into smaller chunks.

Ok I have got it. You have made a great work with the latest release and as you know I love it.

No offense, I would like to be constructive and it's only my own view, all is beautifull, there are a lot of pretty gadgets (weather, birthday, colors, smileys, playstation, ...) but is missing some basic improvement or it's not enough about fields, categories, keywords, tags, hashtags, ... My aim is to be able to improve the user experience for my own users. There are not developer or familiar with development particularly old people. I have to chew the work for them and I feel that I am lacking flexibility with Easysocial. Maybe next releases will offer this.

If you haven't done it already, you can post them on our feature requests section, https://stackideas.com/forums/easysocial/feature-requests-2
