I am trying to get ed3 to display the default layout as :

TLD/subdirectory/index.html (the canonical url)

I am not able to do this. Whenever I add a page labeled witha an alias of index.html to a menu it changes the canonical to :

TLD/subdirectory/index/index/

I have tried using menu item alias and headings but jkust cannot seem to get it to diplay the ED3 "home page" in the toolbar....index.html

Is their a way I can get a layout that goes to the ED3 home page as it is listed in the toolbar of my template? like:

TLD/subdirectory/index.html

I would really like my canonical to match my main navigation.
Wait, I actually figured it out. I have to publish the layout to a menu and publish a module for the menu with the module not displayed on any pages. Then I can use an external url for the page like easyblog/latest.html or easydiscuss/index.html for the main navigation. Thanks I learned something new.

Hello,

When I tried to access http://www.freepsychicnetwork.com/free-psychic-question/index.html , the canonical on the page does show up correctly:

<link href="/free-psychic-question/index.html" rel="canonical"/>

Am I missing anything here?

Hi Mark,

Yes, I wanted to have my url include the index.html like so when I click on my main navigation in Joomla it goes to the index.html rather than the Joomla alias. This is more of a cosmetic issue than a technical one. I just really do not want two url for the same page. So, if there is a way to make the index.html display when I go to the default layout from my Main Navigation I would appreciate any help in doing so. Thanks again.

Hello Frederick,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The index.html is actually the view layout of the EasyDiscuss page. By default the Menus will remove the layout and just leave the view name. We can't really do anything from there as this steps into hacking Joomla core codes. alternatively, we can help you hack the canonical link to be

http://www.freepsychicnetwork.com/free-psychic-question.html

instead. Is this better for you? Please advice.

Thanks!

No! Thank You! Wow! What a mess. I am going to do a fresh install and try to sort this out. I will probably have to do a core hack on the sef.php file to remove the canonical links entirely as they are not formed correctly by Joomla 3.2 plugin. Good Grief! Thanks Mark!
