Hi
Is there a built in system to transfer an easysocial install to another site? If not can the tables just be copied over? I want to preserve the users, groups and posts etc but would like to just migrate them from site A to existing site B. Thanks
Hm, if you are just migrating from site A to site B, why don't you just copy the database over and rename the database? On your new Joomla install, simply change the db name in the configuration.php

because site B already exists and has functionality we need to keep. copying the database would in effect be cloning site A in entirety? i just want to move the ES component and nothing else.

You cannot preserve the user base this way because the id's might conflict. Existing users on siteB might already exist on siteA, there is no way to merge this.

there are no users on site B (or there don't need to be). but it has a general joomla site in place. presumably its the user ID that matters?

If that is the case, you could export the database tables for all tables with the prefix of #__social and Joomla user's tables as well.
