I am finding the trackback table is chock full of spam. I dont even still understand how or what trackbacks are. Even though I read wordpress description. Maybe someone can explain like I am three years old.
So how come this is blocking up my database with spam ?
And are they useful for seo - its not backlinks as far as I can see and the quality of the links would be bad anyway.
Hello Calvin,

Perhaps you can take your time and read the explanation of trackback url from our blog entry here, http://stackideas.com/blog/what-is-a-blog-trackback

I have read this before as I remembered the recipe thing. So I am still not 100% but understand it is some mechanism.
For example
I have created a trackback in this blog post

http://caribbean-diving.com/caribbean-blog/entry/enjoy-the-super-scuba-sensation
to
https://bestantigua.wordpress.com/2014/01/31/antigua-scuba-diving/

I cant see anything what is happening.

If I look at the trackback link for my own post it is not a valid url..https://www.evernote.com/shard/s241/sh/44d1af12-8afd-44be-87b4-3854bec41821/c14690177fe63f1418d6c1297eeb0521

Hello Calvin,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Basically what trackback does is to increase the traffic of your blog post. The trackback link isn't actually for normal browsers to access. If you have another blog, place that trackback link when you create a new blog post. For instance, if you have another Wordpress blog, you can insert that trackback link under the trackback section.

However this could bring you with another potential issue which is spam. We've heard lot of our customer addressing the issue that their database is full of spam when they enabling the trackback and that is why we have decided to remove the trackback functionality in easyblog 5. I highly suggest you to turn off the trackback options to avoid the unintended spam on your database. Hope I can be clearer with the explanation
