Unfortunately, it is not possible to use ED3 toolbar in ED4. This is because the whole html structure of ED has changed. You can try looking at 'EasyDiscuss - Ask' module. The module looks similar to EasyDiscuss 3 ask a question button.

Perhaps you can try using the Zinc theme in ED4? It looks pretty similar to your screenshot in terms of color tone.

Sorry but we do not provide support for these modifications but if you want, you can always modify the theme files. The source code is 100% open.

There is something called transition - I am just ensuring that the transition is smooth in between discuss 3 and 4, with minimal changes

May I know whether you have upgraded your site? If you haven't, perhaps you should set up a test duplicate site then upgrade the EasyDiscuss version in that site. That way, if you have any issues regarding the new version we can look into it for you without the issue affecting your live site.

Regarding your css customization, I have attached the latest version of the zinc theme file that displays the button, which I have added the css attributes to change the color of those buttons. Take note that I have added style to line 175, 181, 187, 196
Download the attached customized file and apply it into the following directory:
JoomlaFolder\components\com_easydiscuss\themes\zinc\posts\item.php
I have also included a sample screenshot of how the customized zinc theme looks.

As a reminder, this file is not protected from future version updates. So it is advisable for you to backup this file and take note of the changes in the file. Also keep in mind that we do not provide customization services.
