Compliments of the day,

I discovered that now, when I post a link, it does not pull the thumbnail image from the link's source (please see image).

Kindly give it a look.

Regards

Hassan
Hello Hassan,

There is no image because the page does not has og:image tag. You might want to add it. See this CNN page for example: http://take.ms/Kem20 . The image is loaded since the page has the og:image tag.

Hello Nik,

Thanks for your response.

Kindly explain this further. Which page does not have the og:image tag?

1. Is it the page on my site that the link is from?
The same link that does not show the thumbnail is showing the thumbnail when shared on Facebook (Please see first attached image).

2. Is it the EasySocial page?
I imported a link from a different site and it shows the thumbnail. (Please see second attached image).

Regards

Hassan

Hello Hassan,

This is how Easysocial works, it will crawl the URL and search for og:image tag for the image. For example this URL: http://icom.ng/n/news/480-reps-want-fg-to-declare-state-of-emergency-on-malaria . There is no og:image tag found as you can see here: http://take.ms/bGDRq (using facebook debugger). Different in facebook crawler, I believe they will search for images in the page if they can't find og:image tag.

Hi Nick.

Thanks.

But this was no so before. It usually found the images as you can see from the image attached which was from one week ago before we upgraded to 2.0.

What has changed?

Hassan

Hello Hassan,

We have removed the ability to crawl the site for images. This is because most websites already use this opengraph (og) standard. As you can see in your article, the opengraph tag is already applied but only missing the og:image http://take.ms/S4Q5U

I am having this exact issue. I've even used the "known good" links provided to try to duplicate the thumbnail creation, and it simply doesn't work.

Any help or ideas is appreciated.

Hey Steve,

I think you already start a new thread regarding this issue at https://stackideas.com/forums/unable-to-create-thumbnails-for-posted-links , we will investigate this issue on your original thread.
