I am trying to upgrade from 1.1.4 to 1.1.6 and receive the message above.

I see you fixed it for this user:

http://stackideas.com/forums/installation-error-8

I am on a development server, so cannot provide ftp.

Any ideas on how to solve this?
Now solved.

It looks like Stackideas are checking that you have correctly added your domain as an "Active Domain" in your control panel. If you don't do this, the install will fail, as it seems to be "calling home" to check that you have done this!

Hi,

How are you performing the update? We suggest you to redownload the launcher from our dashboard page at stackideas.com/dashboard to perform the update.

Be sure to enter your API key during the update.

Thanks for the reply.

1. I performed the upgrade by clicking on the "Outdated" link next to 1.1.4 in the EasySocial backend.

2. It went through all of the install steps and checks (all green etc), including prompting me to enter my API key, which I copied and pasted from my control panel.

3. The issue happens on step 4 (see screenshot).

4. I have also tried downloading the package from my dashboard. The result is the same.

Cold this be in anyway related to my other ticket (Sorry, but you have exceeded the number of domain changes you can make for your subscription).?

In addition to above, I've now noticed after attempting the last install, using the file downloaded from my dashboard, that the version number in the backend has risen to 1.1.6. This is despite the installation not finishing and none of the files listed in the change log for 1.1.6 seemingly updated (all EasySocial files show the same date - 14-01-2014).

Hi,

Ah yes the domain could pose an issue as well.

I've referred to my colleague and he mentioned that he'd already perform the change for you. Are you still having this issue?

Thanks for updating Mark Glad that your issues are resolved now. By the way, we don't actually check your "domain" . What we only do with the launcher package is that you don't have to download the whole full package which is close to 10mb. You only download the initial setup files and download the rest of the package with the API key that you have entered during the setup, it pulls the rest of the files by downloading it on your site.

Alternatively, if you don't want it to download from our site, download the full package, install it and in EasySocial's installation, choose the install from directory method and choose the package

Thanks for clearing that up Mark. I did actually try both methods and downloaded the full installer. The install from Directory method worked for the initial installation of EasySocial, but the issue was that the upgrade method in the EasySocial backend didn't.

All happy and sorted, so thanks very much
