The between streams position

I would like to place feature listings and latest products into the newsfeeds but what I have notice is that when I place a sponsor ad in the in between newsfeed. I will have tons of them. Can you explain how the es-dashboard-between-streams works? Where do you recommend with posting paid advertising how to post in the newsfeed?
