I thank you for locking the gone toxic Roadmap 1.4 thread which I believe was started with the sole purpose to insult and be disruptive to the StackIdeas Team.

These forums are meant to be constructive and such threads that are started for the sole purpose to insult or be disruptive towards StackIdeas or anyone else should not be tolerated.

Keep up the good work StackIdeas. You have me as a lifetime customer and supporter.

Version 1.4 of EasySocial will be awesome just like EasySocial 1.3 and previous versions. I'm looking forward to Beta testing EasyBlog 5 when you make it available.

I just renewed my EasySocial Advanced Plan for another year. At $156 Canadian it is by far the best investment I've made in October. It is by far the best social platform building extension available and it will continue to evolve with every new version.

Randall
Perhaps it's time to have dependable non-biased moderators in the forums so such threads can be moderated without being a time vampire drain and disruption to the StackIdeas Team.

Right on Goodwin,

I believe most customers are 100% supportive and in favor of allowing the StackIdeas Team to focus without such obviously disruptive distractions. Your positive response will be infectious and serves to demonstrate that despite one individual, and their agenda to be disruptive, the vast majority appreciate the hard work of the StackIdeas Team.

I can think of no other group of nice talented people that deliver to us customers the incredible value packed software extensions for Joomla that the SI Team has made available. The StackIdeas is building a world class team that will always deliver great software solutions for Joomla. Great software takes time and the support of a community to evolve.

Yes thank you for locking that thread. It was one of the ugliest that I have seen in quite some time. And yes I am 100% behind the SI team and Community as well

I have achieved more with ES thanks to the SI team & Community in 8 months than I did in 4 years over at Community Builder. I am glad that I trusted my instinct and never even touched JomSocial. I will be presumptuous and say that I want better video functionality more than most people in here… Or let me rephrase that I want great video functionality.

It takes 6 months to build a Rolls Royce. It takes under 24 hours to build a Toyota. In my opinion what the SI team are doing is offering a Rolls Royce at Toyota prices so I do not really see a problem

Road maps are in my opinion “Nice to have!” but certainly not a foundation for a business plan or launch date! I care about results. If I have to wait a year for the video functionality then so be it.

I am confident that when ever it is there it will be pretty amazing.

Rock on & Business as usual

Paul

It appears that the Roadmap 1.4 thread is now unlocked again. Not sure why the decision was made to make the Roadmap 1.4 thread available again because it will most likely flare up again. It is a thread started by someone that chooses to hide behind an anonymous identify so they can be rude and obnoxious towards the StackIdeas Team. I am just one of many that feel such threads should be locked because they serve only one purpose. To forward this persons agenda against the SI Team.

@Paul - Well said Paul. We definitely get Rolls Royce extensions at Toyota prices from the StackIdeas Team.

Yet there will always be some goof that complains and causes issues. And to find out they didn't even pay for the subscription and they want a refund ????? WTF - the person should be thankful and then re-subscribe and pay full pop like anyone else for what value they are getting.

LMS
On a positive note, I am following the Shika development closely and look forward to getting access to the beta. Looks like this TechJoomla product might have some real application on a training site, but won't be able to tell until we get access to the beta version.

Currently, in these forums, I see no way of moderating a thread. Thread moderation is available in EasyDiscuss, isn't it?

It was locked at 3:45am in the morning, but now it is unlocked again. Not sure why the SI Team would unlock it again. Made more sense to lock the toxic thread from spreading further.

My involvement in the thread was meant to be in everyone's best interest. Near the end I was curious what he had to say about the security issue, but should have figured he wouldn't give us enough hints. Also under normal circumstances I would have figured out the payment issue without actually having access to the records, but he managed to work out a deal with the stacked team to get his first subscription free (probably some technical testing that he was able to help with).

I almost called him out for name calling to Mark by saying something along the lines of "how dare you", it was extremely tempting. But I didn't want to escalate the drama and wanted to see how reasonable we could be. I've dealt with trolls in the past which is why I approached this case differently.

Actually, thanking anyone for locking a thread and posting another thread with the same name just means a FOLLOW UP thread... Just like the easysocial mobile thread @_@

But then again, I myself is curious (please don't bully me), if they don't plan on updating it, then why don't they just deactivate the page? It just takes away future customer since they don't see any activities on that page. We ALL (as subscribers) know that they already started 1.4 before they release the Beta 1.3 but then again, it's important that they either remove that page to leave all questions out of way or update it to remove all the doubt. But then again, maybe it's just me or some people doesn't really just care on how ES is being presented. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

The roadmap itself is still mostly accurate, the dates were removed (a good move on their part). Giving a heads up on what to expect for the future is certainly a good thing, even with the non existence of a expectation date. People should not expect things to happen over night, I know I don't when I use any Joomla extension. But sometimes we are pleasantly surprised.

Josh,

Good to know.

Been very busy on a Project called Chameleon Concept, a project research paper I wrote about the future of content publishing back in 1992, at my first company I founded, Motion Works International. We developed world class multimedia authoring and animation tools. I just dug out the design and concept document and 5 page Business Attack Plan from the basement where they sat in a bankers box time capsule since the fall of 1995. The Chameleon Concept project was shelved back in August of 1994 for some interesting reasons. It's getting very close to possible to use StackIdeas extensions to design version 1.0 of this new project. I just started on it yesterday. Lots done already.

Oh how I can envision an engaging interactive edit/post engine or app in EasyDiscuss 4.

I will be inviting you and some others to take a look soon. More on this site later.

Imagine this Josh

NOTE! I wrote this to send to you at 4:50am this morning but didn't send it. I saved it, and then decided timing was best now to send it. Time to really exercise that brilliant mind of yours.

Perhaps there is a need for a radical new user interface for the future version of EasyDiscuss 4 or 5 that would allow the thread editing posting and interacting environment to become more interactive and modeled after real life.

What are the best parts of the current user interface allowing us to freely interact, and what could the user interface become to allow us to show our complete persona?

What would you change and why?

Consider this a concept intellectual challenge to you what you come up with.

Now that makes me wonder?

Actually it's an expectation but if you can clearly see the "not yet started" is a big question mark for future customers. Specially when everything there is "not yet started" (again, we know ES team already started IT)

Hi guys,

Thank you all for your kind words. I took the step of locking the thread without Mark's permission due to the fact that I do not want it to develop into a more insulting, name-calling and other trolling activities. I managed to contact Mark (he's out of the country) via Skype and he PERSONALLY instruct me to unlock it. He said that we, the Stack Ideas team, should remain transparent and open-minded. As one of his staff and a friend, I honestly say that he earned my respect even more.

It would be best if we relax and await Mark's arrival. He informed me that he'll address the issue once he's back. Meanwhile, let's all help build each other up; that's what being in a community is all about!

... aaaand what is this Chameleon Concept I'm reading? Seems interesting!

With all my latest injuries I was not able to use any fingers at one point which made posting here roughly 5-10 times harder than it is right now. I have almost all my fingers back for keyboard use (one of them might never be usable for keyboard usage). What I have learned is that if you want to know if your site is easy to work/post with, try using it with a single (or few) finger(s) on your non writing hand (but do use your hand for mouse navigation). Facebook, Google, ect. passed the test pretty well. The stacked forums had a few tricky parts at times.

Somethings I would have in the future of EasyDiscuss:

- Email link to latest message by using the currently existing anchors. This saves scrolling work to followers.

- When creating a new post in a specific category, the selected category for posting in should be the same as the one you were just viewing. So for example if I'm viewing the ES category and click new thread (Ask Question) it should set ES as the default selected category. This would cut out a extra step for posting, keep it changeable just in case the user happen to be browsing a different category than the one they wanted to post under.

- Post categories should work under a single "roof". Right now when posting in this forum you see a big list of categories to select which was tricky when I could use a few fingers with a cast on. The main category drop down should be simplified and then the second drop down should be what makes it specific. In the following screen shot you will see how we end up with duplicates:

- A way to more easily display attached images. Showing people is often a lot easier than explaining and makes it much more clear to the audience too.

- An advanced search. The filter at the top of the search is nice, but sometimes we want very specific content.

I know this isn't my most creative post, but it's a few things that would make posting/viewing easier. I've never owned ED, so that's why I'm speaking from my experience with this forum.

Quote sources? Sounds interesting, not quite sure how that would work.

Ken wrote:

From my point of view there should be two main audiences coming into the ES world now:

- Those who are able to satisfactorily use ES as it is now

- Those who are willing to wait but perhaps be apart of the change they want to see (yes, I am paraphrasing Gandhi)

This is the best of the forums. To see people like you post your exciting and well thought out ideas that are good examples of the High Order Bit of productivity.

More on this later... I can't do another all-nighter tonight, like last night. Time to relax.

You know what in Africa we always say that "always remove the rotten ground nut from the rest because when you chew it with the good ones, they will all test rotten."

so lets not try to spark fire again just because of one person's thread which can tarnish the image of SI team. we should all protect something when its valuable. i still think unlocking the thread is not a good move. lest focus ahead than concertrating on this issue.

SI team you have impressed me in four months with your products than any other i have tried for joomla in my last 5 years. Just keep it up uprising us

Thanks for your support guys, appreciate them very much. The only reason that I requested Justin to unlock it was because I do not want others to feel that we are hiding anything and in I haven't posted my reply yet

We have nothing to hide and I am pretty sure, we'll come up with a conclusion really soon!

Thanks again guys! On behalf of the team, your support is greatly appreciated!
