Current status:
When I edit a post and insert a Text block, the default font size on the right pane appears as 13.
I can change it to 16 but when I open another Text block afterwards, the default size reverts to 13.
My wish is to have at least one of the three alternatives below:
1) A memory feature whereby my most recent font size is remembered when I create a new Text block.
2) The possibility to add some entry in global settings where I define the default font size.
3) The default font size offered by EasyBlog Composer to be 16 rather than 13 because this is what most modern bloggers use for online text.
That would be a welcome feature. It should also be possible to permanently change the font colour.

I would also like to change the default font size centrally, when is that scheduled?
Or is there a way to do that now?

Eu também gostaria de alterar o tamanho da fonte padrão centralmente, quando isso está agendado?
Ou há uma maneira de fazer isso agora?

Same. I would like to change the default fonts in the EasyBlog editor for the text and headers.

RIP EB support.
After selling the Stackideas to another company there is no support at all for us that we payed for it. That's why all the forum posts are now private and not public. This is why nobody recieves support and their issues remain unsolved.

Hello everybody,

Yes, this situation is very sad for all of us.
We feel like we're abandoned by Mark and his team, with complete indifference
No official communication has yet been made.

Stackideas was a great company, with talented employees.
It's very sad to end like this.

Good luck to all of you

Give them a chance.

They are responding to support questions but there are less of them to do all the work. Mark and his team were/are first class.

When they are ready I am sure they will let us know where they are at. I want to see them bounce back from this, so we need to support them as they did us all those years. Loads of companies are struggling right now.

I have issues reported for 6 months now and i received no answer on how to fix them. It's not Marks fault that he sold the company. The new Investor seems to disrespect us since they collect the subscriptions and they provide no support or updated versions.
Maybe it's time to find a way to migrate from EB to com_content.

I had the same opinion as you, Mel, at first.
But it's October 2023. The last updates were about a year ago. One year !
Except EasySocial which had the right to a small emergency update.
The latest major update of EasySocial was released on 4th May 2021

If they want us to continue to support them financially, they must first communicate.

I myself reported bugs more than 6 months ago, and I'm still waiting for a fix.
Support is not simply a telephone standard, it is also and above all used to actually resolve problems.

The life of our websites depends on it.

The same as with JSN Joomlashine, you have a livetime license and after 2 years it was over with the license for life. I'm afraid it will be exactly the same here, disappointing that you bet on the wrong product.

TSL Media acquired Stackideas and it seems by the support on this forum they have no plan to continue the components such as EB.
https://tslmedia.sg/tsl-acquisition-software-development/

Sadly i haven't found a way to migrate from EB to joomla com_content.

Please give us some feedback when you start using this migrator that you shared.

There is no reason to move to Worstpress now when Joomla also released very good Joomla 5 that is superior to Worstpress. The easy alternative is just to install migrate to Joomla Joomsocial and continue there. So Joomsocial won the game against EasySocial easy as that.

I also got this same message at the beginning of the year.
Nothing since.
The pace of updates is not slowed down but completely stopped.

If the Joomla market has declined, why not offer a Wordpress version ?...
All other successful publishers do this (AcyMailing, Akeeba, Yootheme, etc.)

The boss of TSLMedia, TheSmartLocal.
Could Bryan Choo not be tempted to extend his business model and sell Wordpress and Joomla extensions?
Joomla and especially Wordpress.

After all if he bought Stackideas, why not be interested in the products created.

We must now unblock the situation.

- The boss of TheSmartLocal finances the development of extensions.
- Sell or entrust the management of Joomla extensions to another publisher.
- Or officially declare the end of extension development, and thus allow the Joomla OpenSource community to continue development.

The survival of our sites depends on it.

Jomsocial Joimla 5 update info:
----->>> "JomSocial

JomSocial component
4 Themes
3 Pro templates
17 Add-ons"

Phillipe, where you get this info from that Jomsocial will not be updated for Joomla 5? 🤔

People, what are these stupid discussions about, just wait and see what happens and when there is information. Until then, I will neither change the plugin (EasyBlog) or the provider. I will also stay with Joomla, the 4 version is still supported for 2 years, so there is no need to rush.

CU Michael

I have asked the colleagues from Stackideas today what is going on and received the following answer:

Hello Michael,

We have indeed gone through a transition recently. Having said that, the products aren't sold and we are still continuing to support it but it wouldn't be as quick as it used to be since we are restructuring the entire business.

Thanks for understanding.

Just my 50cent nothing else :
We moved from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 our websites : it was challenging.
The promise was : Joomla will be fast, accessible, secure, ...
LESS than one year later Joomla 5 is out and it is also to have it fast, accessible, secure, ...
There, i already have a LOT of questions about the double version 4 and 5 : i can't tell to my customer hey guys we need to migrate to a major version again, please pay us...
I dislike really WordPress and love Joomla BUT : market died, the only website i see who still produces some great products is joomshaper.
We have some other like Acyba (doing Wordpress Business too), tassos (doing WordPress Business too), and there was stackidea who died since one year now.
So it was difficult but i don't have the time to wait some decisions, i need to move and i decided to migrate all our websites to WordPress. Especially when i see how we are let in expectant without any announcement here.
About Jomsocial : i tried one project with this component and it was a nightmare et we moved to EasySocial.
Thanks

That's not true at all...
WordPress is not an alternative to Joomla and will never come close to its performance and flexibility.
Joomla 4 will be an up-to-date system for at least another 2 years, the changeover to Joomla 5 was made without any problems within a few minutes for some of our sites, so there's no reason to panic.
The problem is that the providers of plug-ins no longer manage to hold their own on the market.

Please Michael, don't say "it's true, it's not true, ..."
I don't try to prove WordPress is better than Joomla : i know joomla is better...
BUT : working with core of Joomla only is not possible for us, and sadly EVEN IF Joomla is better than Wordpress the fact is : the market of Joomla about component / plugin / template, ... is halfly dead.
For me and about your last notice "i think it is not a problem to hold their own on the market" but it is more : the market becomes too small to let them having a decent income with only Joomla.
It's so true, see with stackidea...
Thanks

The answer is right there in these posts. I think many Joomla component providers have not been charging enough for their products. Plus in countries like where stackideas are based the wages for developers has almost doubled.

I have a Joomlart component and the support over there is very poor. It may be they too are struggling, I don't know.

I was with Jomsocial back in 2009 and followed Mark to EasyBlog when he left Jomsocial to start stackideas. I was so excited when he brought out easysocial and moved to it straight away when it didn't have half the functionality it has today. I love their components and their people and have 100% trust in the team (unlike many other component developers).

I would hate to go back to Jomsocial, and certainly would never move to Wordpress (absolutely hated it) not a patch on Joomla.

I want to see stackideas get back on their feet, but in order to do that, we need to support them. I don't know how many paying customers they have right now, but we all should keep up our sunscriptions, plus, if need be, be prepared to pay more. Whatever it takes to get their business thriving once again.

Don't give up on them just yet by jumping ship, and don't pressure Mark, he will let us know when he can where things are at.

Anyone tested Stackideas products on Joomla 5?

FYI - The Joomla 5 updates for sites using Helix Ultimate v 2.16 coming ( https://ufile.io/goqbu8jt ) I have the new version in the Joomshaper forum see link below and new Joomla 5 with updated SP Pagebuilder Pro working with compability plg and settings.

https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/28199

"Thks tried the file here for Helix Ultimate Joomla 5 support and seems to work with Joomla 5 compability support but not if you disable that "Behaviour - Backward Compatibility" plg for Joomla 5 compatiblity support.

There is a bug

"0 Class "JText" not found bug error" there for ---> Classes Aliases

Works if you have enabled the Behaviour - Backward Compatibility" plg with these settings.

Classes Aliases - enabled
ES5 Assets - disabled
Removed Assets - disabled

So problem seems with the Classes Aliases."

(Oh, BIG thanks, tomorrow dev will check those and decide.

Hopefully, all users by default has enabled all those 3 so don't see any error. And only very advanced webmaster check so deeply, and play with on-off to check what would happen after. But sure it would be great to correct that soon, before J5.0.x will start to be popular.)

Hi ssnobben,

can you remember, did you not have problems going from J4.3.28? It is only easysocial that breaks in my update. Basically all the backend dissappears (just leaves the menu links but nothing when you click on them. So ES has to be re-installed.

I cant test J5 yet as waiting for other components to move to php 8.1 and 2 and also J5 compatible.

Guys, I don't get it, why all this post in easyBlog and font size?
The situation with Stackideas is unsatisfactory, we all know that.

But when I read here how and what everyone is pulling out of their fingers, I'm amazed. All of a sudden, it's all about Joomla 5, easySocial and Akeeba backup, what's the point?

The fact is that one of my sites https://reiseblog24.net/ is based on Joomla 5 with PHP 8.2.11 and
MySQLi 10.6.12-MariaDB-0 on Ubuntu 0.22.04.1, YOOtheme Version 4.1.5 and eaysBlog works without any problems.

Yes without any communication here from management about the future there will be no idea to renew your subscription or buy any new extensions until something is updated here.

I was planning to buy the mobile app and Payplans subsciption solutions but bcs of this situation you have to go for other solutions unfortunately.

So this will be my last post here I guess. Bye bye and sorry to see it end like this for Stackideas team and the rest of us..

God bless you all!

Bear with them, we don't know what they are having to deal with. These are not the only company in Joomla developer world having these issues. If we stop paying our subscriptions then thats going to make things worse as they need to pay the staff who are still providing support.

I love these products and don't want them to go away

Until this, their support, their team, their products have been superb. Lets not forget that, and like an old friend, stand with them in their time of need. Maybe even think of ways we can help them?

In the meantime maybe we can help eachother through this thread whilst it remains open to give a bit of breathing space?

By the way, my issue with the upgrade from J4.29 to J4.3 I can get around (once you get passed that version the upgrades go smoothly). I think in my case it was my custom work causing the problem

Businesses all over the place have fallen on hard times. This company provided the best service and products. Give them a break whilst they work through whatever it is they are going through and keep our subscriptions active as they cant pay staff with fresh air.

Mel, I 100% agree with what you are saying about some of these comments. However I am a paying customer and I have been paying the monthly app subscription, as well as £1000's in custom work over the years . Since May we have not been able to get a build done for the app as the app code is out of date and since July the app builder is not even building apps. I told them that we needed to make changes to the app, as it is affecting ny business and therefore the staff I pay. We offered to buy the code and were told this would be an option as a last resort or even provide free source if they closed down the business but they wanted to se what the next couple of months brought, this was back in February. So £800 later just for the app alone, no progress and now no communication at all. I have been holding out having been a loyal paying customer for nearly 10 years and now they are taking money without the provision of any service, under the guise that there is a service. I have been holding out from loyalty to what has been great service till the end of 2022. But I will be cancelling all our subscriptions this month if no communication is made and seeking the options about payment made but no service provided this year. My gut tells me they are just holding on to those who are trying to be as loyal as possible to earn every penny before a final close.

I think I am a fool by hanging on this long but I hope that behind the scenes there is progress, but I think we all know that this is now the end.

Don't worry there will be support but it will be slower than before and I got concerned and asked for clarification on what was going on and this was the answer. Nobody benefits from closing the company, they just have problems, which is normal in these difficult times. If you know programming, you can fix some other bug yourself until the situation normalizes.

As I can see, most of the moderators log into the site regularly, so there is activity. If we push the team it can get worse, let's show some understanding and more patience. I guess most of us are entrepreneurs and as we know very well - there are ups and downs and when we start something we ourselves have to know how to deal with our problems when any of our partners can't help us, so I myself since 5 years I started to seriously deal with programming in such situations to try to do it myself. Programming takes time, I know that from personal experience.

After canceling my subscription i received an email requesting why i canceled it.
I think if you want to see something moving you need to do the same : cancelling subscription.
You will be free to enable it again later if things change... Or if a clear communication is made ?
On our side we decided to leave EasyBlog and probably Joomla. It's an hard decision and we took more than one month of discussion to take it but we can't stay more than one year in so unexpectative situation, asking to customers to wait more is so ridiculous : imagine to build a web strategy based on a product who will be dead probably tomorrow... (one year is a decade in web language term).
Thanks to everyone i met here and hoping you will find a solution.

don't you think it would be more appropriate to continue this discussion on a more explicit subject?
I opened a post here, maybe the subject of the post is more appropriate?

Maybe you didn't understand that we have this discussion here because this post is public. Every new post made after Stackideas was sold is private. That proves that there were some actions made on the forum so we won't be able to see the lack of support from the beginning.

After over a decade (in my case nearly 14 years) of exceptional service I think, without question, we know what the people behind StackIdeas are made of.

Mark and his team have been exemplary in terms of product and service delivery. Their focus on providing that superior level of support, could in fact have contributed to what's happening now. As every minute spent dealing with problems (most often if we admit it caused by ourselves) is a minute away from product development.

That, coupled with drastic rise in salaries where they are based, plus, new emerging technologies, a reduction in customers all contributed to where they are now.

Given how they have supported us over the years, I think we should show the same back. Yes, the support is not as it was, but it is still there (still better than other Joomla support sights I currently use).

Their focus has to be on the products right now, so bear with it. They also need to build a new team where salaries are lower. They can't do this if we start jumping ship.

I'd say stick with it. Give them time.

Also, I don't see any benefit taking this discussion outside this closed thread as it will only escalate the problem. Particularly if new customers sign up and see negative comments from existing customers, it won't create a good impression. The StackIdeas team don't deserve that.

Finally, someone mentioned Jomsocial. I have been there, done that got the T-shirt. That is not a patch on EasySocial - even though it has been around much longer. What Mark and his team have built in their products are in a league of their own.

They're lucky to have you Mel.
Manisha told me on November 6 that the update for EasySocial would arrive in the week, ultimately the following, and ultimately nothing...
Time passed, but nothing happened, as is their habit now.

Stackideas is well and truly dead, as are their customers.

And even if we are given fixes, there will never be any more new features.
What a waste.

The company definately faces a challenge we clearly see with slower product updates and incompatibility Joomla versions. StackIdeas: can't you leverage AI and LLMs for maint & dev tasks? There will soon, if not already, be a downward pressure on coding salaries (not all, but may types of work incl software maintenance) because it's just getting easier to do with AI -- specialty work and AI-based work in particular will see an increase in wages).

StackIdeas, could you integrate advanced AI coding assistants and LLMs to augment the reduced team's capabilities? Could you automate repetitive tasks, train the LLM's on your code and the Joomla codebase, then get help writing code for your products on Joomla, and significantly increase productivity? Heck, why not do the same with the WordPress codebase and do what others have done and support both platforms?

You guys can google just as I can, but checkout GitHub Copilot: Utilizes OpenAI Codex for suggestions on entire functions and lines of code, debugging, and security issue identification.

The AI tools aren't gonna replace Mark and others, but it sure could help out with this situation.

Personal Note: I've canceled my current subscription to StackIdeas but would return in a hearbeat if they returned. For sure, the integration of these AI tools could renew my confidence in the continuity and advancement of StackIdeas' products.

In a way, coders have to do this, or they'll be left behind. The only constant is change.

Philippe,

when a friend gets sick, and struggling to do the things they normally do, or gets depressed as a result of that sickness, do you walk away and say pull yourself together, or do you take time out to help them, even if it causes some dicomfort for yourself?

It isn't the best analogy I know, but in my case, I always stick around to support people in hard times, as that's when they need us most. Investing that time during the darker days can reap incredible rewards (or not) but I don't give up on people that easily - in this case, Stackideas have always been good to me so I am returning that favour. If we were successful, I would help them out financially too, but we are still in early stages none revenue generating.

I will be renewing my subscription, as the worst thing we can do right now is stop that. It is a small price to pay. We need to look at the long term goals. Would you rather have StackIdeas burst back into life, or go with lower quality products?

In answer to you Kevin, if we deal with first issue, then the suggestions you make around AI could potentially be integrated. It needs us to keep up our subscriptions in order to hire or retrain those AI specialists you are talking about.

This venture was Mark's baby. He has built it from scratch. This will be hurting him badly. Give them a chance. It is still active. Just because we can't see the progress, doesn't mean its not happening.

I can’t disagree with you Mel , Stackideas and Mark especially as a leader deserves our support. I am one of the old clients of stackideas and although lately my trust in them has been put to the test, I still hope and have faith for their return. A sign from them, an optimistic one will be appreciated also …

I'm out. The total lack of communication is unnerving. Cancelled my subscriptions yesterday. It would be malpractice for me to continue supporting stackideas products to my clients at this point. Stackideas was hands down the greatest support staff of any joomla extension. Hard to believe they are going out like this.

I feel sooo honored that I am the one who posted the very first post on this thread back in February 2018.
At that time I only wanted a solution to the fixed font size and I could in no way imagine that almost 6 years later the single post would evolve to a tribute (or obituary?) to the whole stackideas company!

You'll have better luck with getting people to join if you actually put the link out here. I just searched and got a million different groups re: programming with stack and who TF knows what else. :/

I did see that he replied the other day on the thread just below this one (templates not working). So that eliminates kidnapping. 💁🏻‍♂️🤣🤓

If you want to be romantic it's your choise but i must remind you that the whole Stackideas project was sold to another company. That means that Mark has nothing to do with Stackideas unless his new boss tells him to.
We better spend time and energy on trying to find a way to replace Easyblog with another component.
For example K2 is the most popular alternative and it would be a good solution but the developers haven't upgraded it to be Joomla 4 compatible.
Another solution is to find a way and migrate from Easyblog to com_content and find extentions to do the rest of EB functions such us mailing list, autopost etc.

I am at the end now. Having given them £900 but no updates or response since May to issues in Titan this is now what would only be called as very deceptive. I have been a customer since the early days and to be treated with this contempt is not acceptable. I appreciate everyones perspective on what is happening but I guess many of us are small business owners. Would you treat your customers like this? All we need is, it is the end and good luck, updates will be available roughly XXXX or we are closing here are some options to help you!!!

Is anyone else using Titan or am I the only fool continuing to pay?

I have emailed every month now since June and not had a reply. I feel stupid for trusting them to do the right thing.

Time to move on and sadly the value of SI is rapidly disappearing as i am not sure I could return even if there was any sign of life.

To let know the others, the updates are :
- Komento 4.0.7
- EasyDiscuss 5.0.12
Like i said before in my mind the problem is more large : no communication about what is happening means "killing the business".
Hope that updates help the others.

I agree with you 100%.

Mark and his team were (still are) the best I have ever worked with. So many businesses have struggled these last few years, we all need to support eachother where we can. They need us right now, so lets work with them and give them the space they need to do what is necessary. We need them too, as without their products we wouldn't have a business.

Stackideas products are the best out there, in a class of their own. They still have so much potential.

I hope 2024 is their year for rising from the ashes and going from strength to strength once again.

All the best to Mark, Manisha and the rest of the team X

100% agree Bret. Because they've been such an outstanding company with what I think are the best, most well developed Joomla components, and second to none service I can't drop them. If I felt the products were no longer useful or had come to a natural end I might think different, but I do believe there is still an amazing future for what they offer. They have only just scratched the surface.

Mark and his team have supported us all for well over a decade, so lets support them and help get stackideas back where it wants to be

Really pleased to see some updates too

I have never been able to get anything sorted with Titan and I paid for two native apps, back in July last year!!!
£1,800 GONE 😱

That's extremely deceptive 😡

Both are up for renewal in the next two weeks and I've only just found this thread in the support group.

Absolutely gutted.

I honestly don't want to give up on Mark and his team as I've been with them for too many years.
It hurts to watch this all fall apart.

Personally, it suits me if there is a delay on things, but I just need them to respond regarding extension of support, especially the native app of which I have two that I've never got to the stage of uploading to Apple or Google stores.

Back in the day, Mark sort of seemingly "disappeared" as it might appear to you right now. But, at the same time he was hinting at some new product. It turned out to be EasySocial. We were all pleasantly surprised.

If we're lucky, that's what's happening now. We do see that release note re: EasyBlog compatibility with Joomla 5x.

In my dreams, that's what's happening now. Mark is using the StackIdeas repository to train an Al language model to output the best, most modern, secure, simple StackIdeas code for Joomla. Or he's just using something like Pincone / LangChain to augment say an OpenAI model to search the entire codebase for relevant functions/files using vector databases as he works on the code for Joomla 5x and more. This would let Mark accomplish the dev tasks without the rest of his team in place.

It's NOT rocket science to get this done. They sure have taken us to the moon and back, so it's possible.

Leveraging AI for coding, Mark could even hedge his bets and take the work done to offer a new product for Joomla, something like this one for WordPress.

If you want them to recover, they must be supported. The salaries of programmers are not at all small from $5000 - $10000 per month. To hire people they need to have funds, if everyone stops paying their subscriptions they will go bankrupt, and there is no other such good alternative to their products - JoomSocial is definitely not.

Everyone decides for himself whether he will continue to support them or not. For me, their products are top notch and I will definitely continue to work with them in the future. Joomla 5 compatibility updates are not many months or a year late, so they fulfill their obligations to their customers.

And continue to support why ? To simply get fixes once a year ?
If I pay it is above all to finance the development of new features and major updates.

I'm sure this will be temporary while they recover. Better to release small but regular updates for the time being, and big ones when the time comes. In its current form, the products are at a very high level compared to other alternatives.

My point is I paid £1800 for two native apps which can only be implemented to the App Store with Stack Ideas help and support.
The six month license which is more expensive than the renewal, is to help an assist you get the apps onto the store, and to make sure that it is stable. It wraps around your website/EasySocial/easyblog. Without their help and support, I was not able to achieve this. Their intervention and interaction is necessary.
Neither of the two apps actually got onto the store, so I’ve paid £1800 and received nothing in return.

The renewal is up in the next few days for the first of the two apps, and even though I messaged through StackIdeas customer support email address last Wednesday, Mark has still yet to reply

I understand you completely. As we all know life is unpredictable and full of ups and downs, no one can predict when something bad will happen, we can't blame anyone for what is happening as they are currently doing their best to deal with the bad situation. We hope they will be able to help you soon.

Yes, that’s the central problem, Mark no longer responds to anyone !
He is completely unreachable.

Everyone has their own uses.
But can we admit that most Stackideas extensions are mature today ? Except EasySocial.
Do EasyBlog, EasyDiscuss or PayPlans need a lot of new features ?
Just look at the Features Requests page.

What major innovations could we bring to EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss ? Relatively minor things.
Maintaining the compatibility of these extensions with successive versions of Joomla could be enough.
Let go without giving up.

My point is that since the financial situation at Stackideas is complicated, wouldn't it be better if they now focus their energy and their/our money primarily on the development of big new EasySocial features ?

This is the most complex expansion with the greatest room for improvement.
According to rumors there will be a change of strategy in 2024.
Maybe it will go in that direction.

This is of course only my opinion. Some of you may have more advanced needs for their articles or forums.

I renewed my Club subscription with them in November, for further 12 months. I haven’t got problems with investing in a company. If I know I’m going to get some support.

I’m just frustrated, because if I don’t hear from them in 2 days, I cannot allow the renewal for the native app subscription to go out, because I had been banking on getting these apps onto the App Store and making some money back from them. This has and is my only way of making money on anything I’ve invested with Stack Ideas.

It would’ve been nice just to have an email or a membrrs only blog post to us all to say what is happening and what software is going to be supported going forwards.

I’m going to have to assume that Mark will stand by his word and extend my subscriptions, but I am going to have to cancel the renewal so I don’t get charged again, as it’s an expense I cannot afford and I do not have the money.
I am not a massive business, it is just myself, running these two websites with no income from them so far, whatsoever.

The native app: should’ve generated me some income by now 😏

I understand you, and I am just starting this year with the launch of my company and I have spent over 5 years in development and invested quite a bit of money. Unfortunately, right now we have hit very bad years to set up a business, but we have to keep fighting. I advise you, while the team recovers, to focus on other tasks and new ideas and above all promoting your activity.

I completely agree with you.

Thanks. But where are the fixes for all the issues I reported ?!

EasySocial version 4.0.14 only has 4 fixes...

What's next ?
Major new features for EasySocial ?

Because the list of our Features Requests is long...
EasySocial is far from complete

My license expires in a few days.
I came to say goodbye to you all !
Because alas there is no more life here in Stackideas, it is well and truly over...

Good luck to everyone !

A shame you are leaving. They have provided updates, it just takes time with their smaller team.

Their demo sites have been inaccessible for several days.
This proves how much they no longer care about their customers (former and future)...

And even though their demo site works, they are still on Joomla 3.10 and EasySocial 4.0.12

I would be delighted to see things change positively !
In the meantime, I don't see why I should continue to lose money by paying for a license, without something convincing in return.
Updates with a few fixes are not enough for me.

After all, a long road has already been built by them.
It is now up to us to continue this construction
