When attempting to save a new article, or edit an existing article, the text disappears when saving. Currently running Version 3.9.15155. Any help would be very much appreciated.
This ticket can be closed. Our web site administrator relaxed permissions. This resolved the issue, along with possibly being then able to install the latest EasyBlog. Thank you, everyone, for your help!

Hello FabTrol Systems,

That was strange, are you editing on your frontend or backend?

can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this?

Hi Fabtrol,

Sorry for late reply to this,

I'm still can't access in your Joomla backend, because it seems like your server blocked other IP address access in your Joomla backend, can you consult with your webhosting provider regarding this and request them to add this IP address 110.159.178.170 in your white list.

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /administrator on this server.

I have seen posts in the forum from other users that have also had this issue. Is there any direction you can give me in terms of what to check for or what might need to be done in order fix the problem? I won't be able to give you access to the backend. I have always posted from the backend. Once I save any article, whether new or edited, the text disappears and the blog post shows a "continue reading" link, but without any text whatsoever. Again, thank you in advance for any direction you can provide to help fix this issue.

Hi FabTrol Systems,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

We are hard to tell you what is the issues causing this without access in your backend, normally what i check this kind of issues is :

#1. Enable Error_reporting from your backend > system > global configuration (then try save an article from backend and see is it got any weird error message show out)
#2. Open your browser development tool > click on console tab > and see got any weird error show out when you submit a blog post from backend
#3. Click the plugin is it got any weird plugin conflict with this.

If we can access in your Joomla backend, this issues will be solve very soon.

Hello,

My name is Larry McDowall and I am am the IT manager here at FabTrol Systems. I am helping Philis with this issue here.

Please allow me to clarify what is happening:

* Neither Philis nor our site manager, both Super Users, can save a post to any blog.
* When this occurs, nothing is saved.
* However, I can save a post to a blog. I am also a Super User, so I should have the same permissions, etc., as they do.

This makes me think, therefore, that the issue is in their browsers or environment, as on my computer using the same browser that they do (latest version of Chrome), it works for me. I am wondering if other addons for their Chrome may be the cause, etc.

Is there anything other than browser addons I should check? I don't know if there is anything specific for EasyBlog to install on a client. I don't have anything, at the least, installed, on my computer; I just went to our web site and made a change to the blog, it saved, and appeared on our public web site (as expected). Thank you.

Hello,

Hm, I do recall that if you have some security addons on the browser, it could prevent ajax calls from being made to the server or perhaps even mess up the javascript

No matter what I try, nothing seems to get this to work. Here are some test results:

* Internet Explorer 8 and 11 fail. So far as I can tell, IE fails throughout the company (5 systems were tested with various operating systems).
* IE8 with a clean of system as I can give it fails. This includes disabling all addons and plugins, setting security to Enable for everything in Custom level (everything in IE security-wise is basically disabled), booting Windows into Safe Mode with Networking and with no startup items loaded, etc, page in compatibility mode, etc.
* Chrome on my system works, but not on anyone else's.
* In IE8 when this fails, I get what appear to be JavaScript warnings/errors at the bottom left of the page. Clicking on these show:

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.3)

Researching these on the Internet, they appear to relate to JavaScript errors.

* In EasyBlog, I see:

Installed version: 3.9.15155

Latest available version: 3.9.22295

I can't update this as I don't have an administrator account; I am not sure if this would fix anything or not (I suspect not given the minor version difference).

Does anyone have any further suggestions? Thank you.

Hello,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a long weekend off for us here. Hm, based on the error that you have provided, it looks like some of the scripts are missing from the site altogether. Since we do not have access to the site, I am not really sure how to check this.

Can you first try to update to the latest version of EasyBlog by downloading the installer from http://stackideas.com/dashboard ?

An update was tried a week ago, but failed. The errors are in the attached error.png screenshot, but to summarize, there were several "path is not a folder" errors and cannot find Joomla XML setup file.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this, to apply the update to try to resolve the blogs not saving, please? Thank you.

Hello,

I do think that this error is most likely because you have specified an invalid temporary path in your Joomla's Global Configuration area. Double check this and see if it's pointing to the correct path.

I can't be 100% sure about this because to be honest, you are asking me a question which I am pretty uncertain myself too since I don't have access to the site. It's like blindfolding me and asking me to drive around the city. There are just too many possibilities

If you could provide us with the back end and FTP access to the site, this would be much easier for us to assist you with your issues.

Trying to update EasyBlog gets the same errors as when trying to save a blog (see attached screenshot). There's nothing in the tmp folder, I'm not sure if there's supposed to be or not.

I have access to the FTP, is there something specific I need to be looking for in it? I can provide a remote session if someone would prefer to take a look at it. Thank you.

Hello,

May I know did you set up the correct tmp folder from your joomla global configuration, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-05_2054.png ? You can also check from your extension manager > Install via directory for the file path and see if its configured correctly or not. It will be great if you can provide us with your site and ftp access so we can identify the problem quickly.

Our tmp folder is set to: /var/www/fabtrol/www4/tmp. In your screenshot, however, I see the use of both forward and back slashes "/\" in the example path name; is that a typo? I can't install the update in any way suggested, I get the same errors.

What times are you available for support? I need to do this via a remote session to my desktop while I am present, which will provide FTP access (read/write) to our folders. My work hours are 7 AM to 4 PM Pacific Time. Thank you.

Hi,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,

I have checked with you provided that screenshot above.
Warning: Failed to move file!

It most likely the tmp folder is not writable[/b] or the folder is not properly defined in the file configuration.php as my colleague mentioned at above.

In other words, it is mostly caused by permission issues. Can you try check my following step and see how it goes?

#1. Go to backend > Site > System Information > check your Directory Permissions tab to make sure everything is writable.

#2. Also make sure your Path to Temp Folder is correct in Site -> Global Configuration.

Reference link : http://www.templatemonster.com/help/joomla-1-6-warning-failed-to-move-file.html

Regarding with your initial problem : (Text disappear after save)
>> I have tested create a new blog post in your frontend and tried to edit, it seems like work fine for me.
>> Check my video link : http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-06_1114.swf

By the way, seems like you unable to provide us with your Joomla backend access permission, we actually hard to tell you what is the issues causing this.

I understand that you are unable to provide us with your Joomla’ backend access. However, this would actually makes it quite difficult for us to debug and provide you with the VIP support. The best that I can think of is for us to provide with steps to solve your issue based on your elaboration on the issue.

For our official support hour, its Monday - Friday / 10am - 7pm (GMT +8) Malaysia time.
