By the way, I am unsure if this could be the reason why it is not generating the correct avatar but it seems like the disk size on your hosting environment is full, http://take.ms/RbumQ . This could be the reason why it wasn't able to generate the profile picture correctly.

Unfortunately, Snetz.ch is no longer available. The browser displays the error HTTP 500 Error. Could it be that you have made a change that leads to this problem? What are you thinking about that?
For info: my staging site under snetz.ch/demopro works great.

It's still not working as I am hitting this error, http://take.ms/kgfHk . It's not related to the memory, it's related to the disk space. You can try to use FTP to modify the file /administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/user/user.php , the file wouldn't save

I was able to upload an old user.php file via ftp upload (I imported it from the staging site demopro) without any problems. See scrrenshot user.php. This means. There is enough disk memory available. snetz.ch was online again, and I was able to log in, but I could not open individual profiles. Therefore I uninstalled the non-current version of the user.php file and uploaded the empty user.php file. Snetz.ch is therefore not available on the web.

Do you have the last version of the user.php file available? If so, you can submit this user.php to me so that I can upload the file via FTP.

Thank you. it looks like the website snetz.ch is working again. As a test I have created a new account. The text Avatar is displayed correctly with two letters. Unfortunately, the last 4 accounts are displayed with only one letter. How can I recreate these 4 text avatars? Resaving the affected profiles with a portrait photo and then deleting the photo will not produce the desired text avatars.

Hm, I suspect the issue is caused by the character in that name. I am able to replicate this locally by using the same name as your affected user: http://take.ms/WTDbm . If you notice, in the screenshot, the user without 'ä' have no issue with the text avatar. I will log this in our issue tracker and see what we can do about this.

I have checked the code that generate the initials in avatar. Previously there was an issue where the user's name is in other language such as: 이민호 , 海子 and จอห์น . The text avatar will fail in generating initial for these names. There is no way to properly fix this and as a workaround (until we find a proper way to fix), it will generate random character for those non-ascii text.
