Hi

We've recently upgraded to 5.4.2 and I'm finding that when we create a new post and add a tag such as #612, it doesn't save. I've also noticed that when I try and untick 'uncategorized' and tick News as Primary, that doesn't save either. I guess these could be related. I then checked on our staging site which is running 5.2.14 at the moment and find the same thing there so it may have been an issue for a while. This is a problem for us because we use the tags to route posts to the news pages of hundreds of member group pages and so none can currently publish to the website.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Jamie
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here and I am hitting this error The webmaster has forbidden your access to this site when I access your site.

And FTP server as well :

Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving address of ftp.nwr.org.uk
Status: Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known".
Error: Could not connect to server

Is it possible for you temporary disable this access restriction first so we can troubleshoot this issue quickly?

Basically your issue is when you compose a blog post and add some of the tag from the composer, it doesn't save it after you press the publish or save draft button on the right panel?

Hi Arlex

Sorry about that. I think it must have been the IP which should have been 212.67.220.192

I've created a new set of credentials and tested them and they worked fine. See attached.

We do not have fixed IP address at this point of time, this is my current dynamic IP address : 60.51.111.214

Can you add this IP into your server whitelist or is it possible for you temporary disable your IP restriction because I will afraid that when I come to office the IP address will different again.

I am still unable to connect with your FTP server, this is what I hitting now :

Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving address of nwr.org.uk
Status: Connecting to 104.27.186.108:22...
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server

hi Arlex

sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I had to install the Fail2Ban extension in Plesk in order to add your IP as trusted which I've now done but I appreciate that you may have since been issued with a new IP. Please confirm if you're able to access.

Thanks

Jamie

Hi Arlex. Sorry that you're having trouble logging in. I have reset your login to the back end and have tested it and it works fine for me. Please try that one again. Also, could you try the FTP with a different FTP hostname? Please use 212.67.220.192 instead. Again I have tested and it works for me. I have also disabled a security plugin which sometimes seems use a kind of Geo Firewall and I've checked Plesk Firewall settings and there doesn't appear to be any kind of Geo block and I've whitelisted that last IP you supplied. If you supply me another tomorrow I'll add it immediately.
Thanks for your patience.

Thanks, I can able to connect with your FTP and login on your site.

From what I tested several times, it seems like I was unable to reproduce this issue.

You can watch my attached video and see if I reproduce this issue wrongly?

Or do you have any blog post which having this issue so we can test this out?

Hi Arlex

Thanks for checking this out. In fact it seems that the issue was caused in some way owing to a conflict with the extension Security Check Pro. I had disabled the related plugins on the site but it didn't have an immediate effect but by the time you tested it then it worked fine. So I just tested it on the staging site and found that the tags won't save whilst the Security Check Pro plugins are enabled but they will save when they are disabled (after the change has had time to take effect).

Not sure why there's a conflict but that seems to be the issue. I guess I'll have to keep that plugin disabled for now at least which is a bit of a shame as it does add a layer of security to the site.

Do let me know if you have any further thoughts on this.

Thanks again for your help.

Ops, when I re-enabled this plugin "Security Check Pro" then I immediately hit this "The webmaster has forbidden your access to this site".

Because I would like to troubleshoot why when enable this plugin then caused this issue.

Is it possible for you send us this installer so we can test in my locally and see if I can reproduce this issue?

In the meanwhile, can you unblock my current IP address? 115.133.65.75

Hi Arlex

No worries. Do you want to do this on the staging site perhaps? That's staging.nwr.org.uk. I've added your IP to the whitelist on there. The Security Check Pro uses a Geo blocker and I've used this to generally try and reduce risk a bit. I've attached a screenshot of the geoblock page for Asia. Let me know if I need to allow any further exceptions. I've also attached Security Check Pro extension although it is a few years out of date.

Let me know if there's anything else that you need.

Is there any setting I need to turn on?
