Can you sync and manage the tag lists from ES, EB and ED all in one place, or do you have to manage three separate lists?

Thanks!

Hello Jeff,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Unfortunately it is not possible to manage all tags for eb, ed and es in one place with the current system. All the components is using their own tag system.

OK - thanks for the speedy reply.

Any reason why we could not write a script, trigger it with a chron job, to sync the tag tables in the database?

HI Jeff,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Do you mean to sync all components to have the same tag table in the database? I believe this is quite impossible to do because each components have their own tags system and tags database. Or am I missing anything here?

Please advise.

no worries - I should have been more clear.

No - the tag systems would all still function as they do out of the box - but the script would ensure that each systems tag database had exactly the same set of tags by duplicating the data across all of the systems.

So not one set that all three pull from but three sets that operate as normal that have identical tag data.

I hope that is more clear.

Thanks!

Jeff,

I was just thinking about this today and you beat me to posting it

Now that Joomla 3.x has tagging built-in, why not use native tagging (or extend it the way that other extend com_content), like this one has unified tagging across all of their site regardless of which extension they use?

I realize that this might not be possible at the moment (as the extension were developed before Joomla had the tagging feature), but it might make a leaner product in the future.

Personally, I'm in the opinion that one should rely on the core features as much possible.

Hello Chaim,

Thanks for the suggestion. And it is a very good idea I must say. But we have to really take a deeper look on this if we want to integrate the tags from all our components. For now, you might want to add this in our Voices page http://stackideas.com/voices and our developers will get back to you.
